OREM, Utah –(UVU Media Relations) Utah Valley University outlasted Idaho in a high-scoring shootout, 89-88, to stay atop the WAC standings despite a 42-point effort from the Vandals’ Stephen Madison.
Holton Hunsaker scored 28 for the Wolverines (15-9, 9-2) including the go-ahead free throws with 3:05 left followed by a 3-pointer with 2:26 to go, giving UVU a 87-83 lead. Madison got the Vandals (10-16, 4-8) within two on a layup 1:26 left and then, after two Zach Nelson free throws, scored again to make it 89-87 with 58 seconds to go.

New Mexico State 84, Chicago State 55
LAS CRUCES, N.M. –(NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State men’s basketball team defeated Chicago State, 84-55 in the Pan American Center Saturday night.
The Aggies improve to 20-8 on the season and 9-3 in WAC play, while Chicago State falls to 10-14 overall and 5-5 in the league. The 20th win of the 2013-14 season marks the fifth time under head coach Marvin Menzies that NM State has reached the 20-win mark.

Texas-Pan American 68, Kansas City 59
EDINBURG – After entering the game with 997 career points, graduate student Javorn Farrell blew past the 1,000-points mark by scoring a career-high 30 points to lead the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs men's basketball team to a 68-59 win over the University of Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroos on Saturday at the UTPA Fieldhouse.
It's the Broncs' (8-19, 4-8 Western Athletic Conference) second win in a row and gives them a season sweep of the Kangaroos (7-17, 4-7 WAC).

Bakersfield 83, Kansas City 65
BAKERSFIELD, Calif.- (CSUB Media Relations) Issiah Grayson (R-Sr., Atlanta, Ga., Southern Idaho CC) scored a game-high 22 points while leading five Roadrunners in double figures as Bakersfield (11-14, 4-7 WAC) won back-to-back Western Athletic Conference games Saturday night downing Seattle (12-12, 4-7 WAC) 83-65 at Rabobank Arena.
The win completes the weekend sweep of conference play for Bakersfield and the regular-season sweep against Seattle as the ‘Runners won their most lopsided conference game by 18 points. Bakersfield also defeated Idaho on Thursday night 76-67.
