DAVIS, Calif. –(SU Media Relations) After dropping the first game, 4-3, and falling behind in the second contest, Seattle University roared back to send the nightcap into extra innings and then executed a fundamental play to pull out the 4-3 victory over UC Davis, splitting Saturday’s collegiate baseball doubleheader at Dobbins Stadium.
With Seattle U down 3-0 heading into the seventh and final scheduled inning of the second game, Brian Olson (Black Diamond, Wash.) was hit by a pitch, and Sam Finfer (Bellevue, Wash.) and Brock Carpenter (Milton, Wash.) followed with back-to-back singles to load the bases. Colin Peterson (Bellingham, Wash.) drove in pinch runner Austen Brand (Tacoma, Wash.) with a sacrifice fly to center field, but another Redhawk flyout put UC Davis one out away from victory.

EDINBURG –(UTPA Media Relations) The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball used a five-run first inning to beat the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders 11-1 to split a doubleheader on Saturday at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
The game ended in the bottom of the seventh inning due to the 10-run mercy rule after Alberto Morales was hit by a pitch that allowing freshman Omar Avila to score the final run.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. –(NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State baseball team remained unbeaten during the first weekend of play after sweeping a doubleheader from St. Mary’s (Calif.) on Saturday at Presley Askew Field.
The Aggies, who have won the first three games of the four-game series, started the day by run-ruling the Gaels in game one of the doubleheader. NM State won by the final score of 14-2 after the game was stopped at the end of the seventh inning.

LOS ANGELES -(UVU Media Relations) Kade Andrus went 3-for-3 with a home run and a double as Utah Valley University evened the three-game series at Loyola Marymount with a 5-3 win on Saturday. UVU (1-1) scored twice in the ninth to defeat the Lions (1-1).
The two runs came in on an error, allowing Greyson Bogden to follow Beau Kallas home and give the Wolverines the win after Kyle Valgardson pitched the bottom of the ninth to get the save.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—(CSUB Media Relations) Bakersfield defeated Milwaukee 8-3 in game two of the opening series of 2014 between the two clubs.
The Panthers (0-2) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a pair of RBI singles from Mitch Ghelfi and Tyler Hermann. The Roadrunners responded by tying the score with a pair of runs that came in on a hit by pitch and a balk.

LAKE CHARLES, La. –(CSU Media Relations) A six-run ninth inning by Southern Mississippi vaulted the Golden Eagles to an 11-8 decision over Chicago State on Saturday (Feb. 15) evening in a neutral site game played on the campus of McNeese State University.
The Cougars entered the ninth leading 8-5 after scoring an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. –(SAC Media Relations) Utah senior lefty Tanner Banks allowed just one unearned run and two hits with nine strikeouts over seven innings and the Utes struck for a pair of runs in the sixth and seventh to top Sacramento State 2-1 on Saturday at John Smith Field.
The Utes (1-1) evened the four-game season-opening series at one game apiece after the Hornets (1-1) claimed a 3-2 win on Friday. Utah had eight hits in the game and scored twice off Hornet junior starter Brennan Leitao, who turned in a solid performance allowing just six hits and two walks with four strikeouts over seven innings.

Monroe, La.-(GCU Media Relations) A Grand Canyon University baseball (0-2) ninth-inning rally fell just short as they dropped a 5-4 decision today to the University of Louisiana at Monroe (2-0) at Warhawk Field in Monroe, La. The Warhawks jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead and held the Antelopes scoreless for the first 5.0 innings.
The 'Lopes made a comeback with a three-run ninth inning that was jumpstarted by a couple of key pinch-hitters. Jon Kealoha led off the frame with a walk and was moved to second on a groundout by Brian Kraft. Charles Wagner doubled to left-center and came around to score on a single off the bat of Chad De La Guerra to cut the Warhawks' lead to just one run.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas –(NC Media Relations) The offense put up eight hits in the game, but couldn't string them together as the Northern Colorado baseball team dropped an 8-1 decision to Sam Houston State in the second game of the year.
"We've got to improve on our timely hitting," Head Coach Carl Iwasaki said. "We didn't compound our hitting and we let their starter off the hook a little."
