SACRAMENTO, Calif. –(SAC Media Relations) Hornet junior first baseman Rhys Hoskins drove home sophomore Nathan Lukes with an infield single in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Sacramento State a 5-4 walk-off victory over Utah on Sunday in game three of a four game series.
Hoskins, who was looking for his first hit of the young season, came to the plate with men on second and third and one out in the ninth. He laced a grounder to third base that was knocked down on a dive by Utah’s Cody Scaggari but his throw home was too late as Lukes slid in safely with the winning run.

Bakersfield 9, Milwaukee 3 (8)
BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—(CSUB Media Relations) Bakersfield completed a season-opening three game sweep of Milwaukee as the Roadrunners defeated the Panthers 9-3 Sunday. The game was ended after eight innings due the Panthers’ travel back to Milwaukee.
Sam Koenig’s RBI triple combined with Koening scoring on an Austin Davis (R-So., Scottsdale, Ariz., Desert Mountain HS) wild pitch gave the Panthers a 2-0 in the top of the first.

Grand Canyon 7, ULM 1
Monroe, La. - (GCU Media Relations) It has been 16 years since the Grand Canyon University baseball team (1-2) competed at the Division I level, and the Antelopes today picked up their first D-I win since that 1998 season after defeating the University of Louisiana at Monroe (2-1), 7-1, at Warhawk Field in Monroe, La. Today's game was the series finale between the two teams, who were meeting for the first time since 1971.
The game was tied at one for the first six innings before the 'Lopes used a couple of hits, including Matt Haggerty's first-career home run, to break the tie in the seventh and give starter Coley Bruns the 4-1 cushion. Bruns struck out a career-best 10 batters while allowing just one run on five hits without issuing a walk in a career-high-tying 8.0 solid innings of work to pick up his first win of the season.

Seattle U 17, UC Davis 5
DAVIS, Calif. –(SU Media Relations) After giving up an early lead, Seattle University put together a record-setting 11-run seventh inning to pull away for a 17-5 victory over UC Davis Sunday afternoon in collegiate baseball action at Dobbins Stadium.
Down 5-4 after six innings, the Redhawks came back in the top of the seventh off UC Davis reliever Robert Parucha, as he walked Landon Cray (Chimacum, Wash.) and Michael McCann (Vancouver, Wash.) and hit Cullen Hendrickson (Auburn, Wash.) with a pitch to load the bases with one out. Brian Olson (Black Diamond, Wash.) hammered a pitch off the left field wall for a double, plating Cray and McCann to put the Redhawks back in the lead, 6-5.

LAKE CHARLES, La. – (CSU Media Relations) Chicago State baseball dropped a non-conference game to Missouri on Sunday (Feb. 16) afternoon 6-3. The neutral site game was played on the campus of McNeese State University. A pair of Missouri runs in the eighth inning opened up what was a one-run game for the majority of the contest.

EDINBURG –(UTPA Media Relations) The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team fell to the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders 10-0 on Sunday in a game that ended after seven innings at Edinburg Baseball Stadium due to the 10-run rule.
The Islanders (2-2) struck right away against Matt Daniels (0-1), as Cody Stephens led off the game with an infield-single, moved to second on a balk and scored on an RBI-single by Tyler Ware. One batter later, Zach Gibson drove Ware home to make it 2-0 Islanders.

Saint Mary's 8, New Mexico State 3
LAS CRUCES, N.M. –(NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State baseball team could not complete a four-game sweep of St. Mary’s (Calif.) on Sunday, falling to the Gaels 8-3 at Presley Askew Field. The game was called after eight innings of play due to travel-time constraints for St. Mary’s. The Aggies were handed their first loss of the season and now sit at 3-1 after winning the first three games of the series.
NM State and the Gaels each scored a run in the first inning. St. Mary’s run would be unearned as the Aggies committed the first of what would be three errors throughout the game. NM State’s run came off an RBI double from senior first baseman Kris Koerper who has come out red-hot at the plate to start off the season. Koerper collected a total of eight RBIs throughout the weekend to lead the Aggies.

Sam Houston State 5, Northern Colorado 0
HUNTSVILLE, Texas –(NC Media Relations) Sam Houston State scored all its runs in one inning and Northern Colorado struggled to string hits together, falling 5-0 on Sunday afternoon.
True freshman Connor Leedholm (Lakewood, Colo.) started for the Bears (0-3) on the hill and had five strong innings before running into some trouble in the sixth. In 5 2/3 innings, he allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits, walking three and striking out two. Entering the sixth inning, the Bearkats (3-0) had only managed two singles and two walks off Leedholm.

LOS ANGELES –(UVU Media Relations) Utah Valley University saw an early lead disappear as a five-run fifth inning propelled Loyola Marymount to a 9-2 victory on Sunday. The win gave the Lions (2-1) the series win over the Wolverines (1-2).
Utah Valley continues its eight-game, season-opening road trip on Tuesday at Arizona in a two-game midweek series.
