WAC Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – Kansas City’s Bryce Miller and Idaho’s Emmanuel Panchol have been named the Western Athletic Conference men’s track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Feb. 10-16.

Miller, a freshman from Ashland, Wisc. (Ashland HS), won the 3,000-meter run at the Iowa State Classic with a time of 8:13.94.  The freshman shattered the previous school record by nearly 10 seconds.  The time is the fastest in the WAC by almost 12 seconds.

Panchol, a junior from Khartoum, Sudan (Ashford University), placed first in the triple jump with a career-best mark of 48-5.25 (14.76m) and finished second in the high jump with a career-best leap of 6-8.75 (2.05m) at the Husky Classic on Friday.  His triple jump mark leads the WAC this season and his high jump is third in the conference.  On Saturday, at the UW Open, he again placed second in the high jump with a leap of 6-4.74 (1.95m).
