TEAM RECAPS
CHICAGO STATE
Chicago State went 1-1 on the weekend, defeating Wright State at home, 4-2, and falling at Southern Illinois, 4-2 ... the Cougars already have as many home victories as they did all of last season ... after defeating Dayton and Wright State, it was the first time that the Cougars had won two matches in a row since the 2012 season ... sophomore Sabrine Navarro has won as many singles and doubles matches this season as she did all of last season ... this week, the Cougars host three matches ... CSU opens with a doubleheader on Saturday, hosting  WAC opponents Grand Canyon and Texas-Pan American ... on Sunday, the Cougars face Eastern Illinois.

GRAND CANYON
On Feb. 8, Grand Canyon picked up its first D-I win in its inaugural season with the WAC, downing UTEP 6-1 ... GCU dropped the opening set in five of six singles matches, but rallied to win four of them ... junior Silvia Tumova won three of four matches on the week, with one being unfinished ... she picked up two of GCU’s six points in the win over UTEP ... GCU was off last week ... the ‘Lopes will be back in action with a trip to Chicago to face Illinois-Chicago and South Dakota State on Friday, Chicago State on Saturday, before closing the weekend against Detroit Mercy on Sunday.

IDAHO
Idaho went 2-0 last week, defeating No. 66 Fresno State 4-3 and Utah State 5-2 ... the win over Fresno was Idaho’s first all-time against the Bulldogs, going 0-10 prior to the match on Feb. 13 ... with the two wins, Idaho improves to 6-1 on the year and debuted in the ITA rankings at No. 73 ... the Vandals only loss this season came to No. 59 Washington State ... Galina Bykova was named WAC women’s tennis Athlete of the Week for her 3-0 performance on the week, which included two No. 3 singles wins ... this week, the Vandals will host Kansas City on Saturday.

KANSAS CITY
The ‘Roos dropped their lone match last week, falling 7-0 at Northern Iowa ... this week, Kansas City travels to the Pacific Northwest for three matches, two against ranked opponents ... Kansas City opens with No. 59 Washington State on Friday, then travels to face Lewis-Clark State and No. 73 Idaho on Saturday ... once the ‘Roos return to the Midwest, they will add a midweek match against Iowa on Tuesday.

NEW MEXICO STATE
New Mexico State won both matches last weekend to improve its record to 3-4 in the spring ...  the Aggies only lost three points out of 14 after defeating Lamar, 6-1,and Northern Arizona, 5-2 ... Susana Alcaraz won both her singles matches at the No. 2 spot over the weekend and went 1-1 in doubles with partner Denise Van Der Ben, only losing to Northern Arizona in a very close matchup, 8-7 ... in singles, Alcaraz defeated Lamar’s Alicia Porte, 6-2, 6-2, before defeating Johanna Vang of Northern Arizona, also in straight sets, 7-5, 7-5 ... this week, the Aggies host Southern Miss on Friday and Abilene Christian on Sunday.

SEATTLE U
Seattle U fell to Portland, 4-3, on Feb. 15 in Vancouver, Wash., the only match of the week for the Redhawks ... Kristen James and Corinne Wurden earned the team’s sole doubles win, 6-2, over Alexa McDonald and Ayaka Terakawa … Kelli Woodman, Gabriella Weissmann, and Corinne Wurden also earned singles wins ... this week, the Redhawks host Utah State on Friday and Gonzaga on Sunday.

TEXAS-PAN AMERICAN
The Broncs split in their two matches over the weekend as they fell to Texas State, 4-3, and then defeated the University of the Incarnate Word, 5-2 ... Christel Amsallem and Reegan Greenwood went 2-0 in singles for the Broncs over the weekend ... the Broncs hit the road for three matches in three days as they face Valparaiso on Friday, Chicago State on Saturday and South Dakota State on Sunday.

WAC TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD IN LAS CRUCES
The 2014 WAC Tennis Tournament will be held April 25-27 in Las Cruces, N.M.  The WAC conference championship will be up for grabs, as last year’s champions, San Jose State, has since departed the WAC.
