CHICAGO STATE
The Cougars fell in both matches during a doubleheader last weekend, losing to Wright State, 4-0, and Southern Illinois, 4-1 ... Junior Rashley Yeremia scored the Cougars’ only point when he took down Jeremy Dixon 6-1, 3-6, 11-9 at No. 6 singles against SIU ... this week, the Cougars host South Dakota State on Friday and Grand Canyon on Saturday.
GRAND CANYON
Grand Canyon went 1-2 last week, defeating UC Riverside, 5-2, before falling to Loyola Marymount, 6-1, and Nevada, 7-0 ... junior Benjamin Collomb has won three straight singles matches and was a perfect 3-0 last week ... Collomb did not lose a set the entire weekend and was even in his one unfinished doubles match ... this week, the ‘Lopes travel to face fellow WAC school Chicago State on Saturday.
IDAHO
The Vandals went 0-3 last week, falling on the road to Arizona (7-0), New Mexico State (4-0) and New Mexico (5-2) ... Artemiy Nikitin and Cristobal Ramos Salazar earned Idaho’s two points in the match against New Mexico with singles wins at the Nos. 3 and 4 positions ... this week, the Vandals have two matches in Spokane, Wash., facing Gonzaga on Thursday and Kansas City on Saturday.
KANSAS CITY
Kansas City went 0-2 last week, falling to Northern Arizona, 4-1, and New Mexico State, 6-1, during a road trip to Las Cruces, N.M. ... this week, the ‘Roos are busy with a four-match road trip to Spokane, Wash. ... UMKC will play Eastern Washington on Friday, Idaho on Saturday, before closing with a doubleheader against Gonzaga and Lewis-Clark State on Sunday.
NEW MEXICO STATE
After losing its first match of the weekend to Northern Arizona, 4-2, NM State won its next two matches over Idaho, 4-0, and Kansas City, 6-1 ... the Aggies improve to 6-3 on the season ... Strahinja Trecakov went undefeated in three doubles matches with partner Germain Degardin at the No. 3 spot this weekend ... in singles, Trecakov went 2-1 at the 1 spot, with wins over Idaho and Missouri-Kansas City ... he was named WAC men’s tennis Athlete of the Week ... this week, the Aggies host Abilene Christian on Saturday and Arizona on Sunday.
SEATTLE U
Seattle U went 2-1 last week, falling 7-0 to Portland before sweeping Lewis & Clark, 7-0, and Liberty, 4-3 ... Connor Leahy earned two singles wins in victories on the week at the No. 6 singles slot and earned two No. 3 doubles wins with partner Riley Newman ... Leahy clinched the victory vs. Liberty for the Redhawks with the final singles victory ... the Redhawks are in action this week against Washington on Saturday.
TEXAS-PAN AMERICAN
The Broncs fell in both of their matches this past weekend as they lost 4-3 to Lamar at home and then lost 5-2 on the road to the University of the Incarnate Word ... senior Chetan Panditi teamed up with senior Ricardo Hopker to win both of their doubles matches over the weekend ... they clinched the doubles point for the Broncs against Lamar’s Jeandre Hoogenboezem and Mikko Rajamaki at No. 2 doubles ... Joseph Bishop picked up the lone singles point for the Broncs against Incarnate Word after defeating Antonio Cavazos 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 singles, he is now 3-2 on the season ... the Broncs have one match this weekend as they travel to Arlington to face off against the University of Texas at Arlington Mavericks.
WAC TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD IN LAS CRUCES
The 2014 WAC Tennis Tournament will be held April 25-27 in Las Cruces, N.M. The WAC conference championship will be up for grabs, as last year’s champions, Denver, has since departed the WAC.
