Northridge, Calif.-(SU Media Relations) After losing the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, 14-4, Seattle University fought back from an early deficit to tie the second game, but Cal State Northridge scored a late run and held on for a 4-3 win to sweep the twinbill in collegiate baseball action at Matador Field.
Down 3-0 after two innings of game two, Seattle U started its comeback in the third inning when Chase Fields (Ontario, Ore.), Cullen Hendrickson (Auburn, Wash.), and Michael McCann (Vancouver, Wash.) all singled to load the bases with nobody out. Brock Carpenter (Milton, Wash.) drove in Fields with a sacrifice fly to center field, but Matador starter John Salas induced an inning-ending double play to end the threat.

GREELEY –(NC Media Relations) Northern Colorado baseball dropped the middle game of a three-game series against Colorado Mesa Saturday, losing 2-0 at Jackson Field.
After winning 6-4 on Friday, this loss sets up a rubber match at noon Sunday.
Bears (1-6) senior left-handed pitcher Nick Miller (Loveland) went five innings in the loss, giving up six hits and three walks with three strikeouts. His lone blemish came in the fourth inning when he gave up a two-out, two-run homerun to CMU (6-1) junior left fielder Austin Wallingford that cleared the left field fences.

PHOENIX-(GCU Media Relations) The Grand Canyon University baseball team (3-4) today split their doubleheader against visiting Hofstra (1-2) at Brazell Stadium, winning the first game by a score of 10-3, but falling 7-5 in the second.
"Today was kind of a roller coaster ride in the respect that we won the opener and had a chance to make game three a defining game, but we couldn't do it," said head coach Andy Stankiewicz. "To their credit, they kept battling and they had some big hits when they needed them. You have to tip your cap to them in that third game, because quite honestly, I felt like they wanted it more than we did."
In the opening game, the 'Lopes had another strong outing on the mound, this time by Andrew Naderer, who allowed three runs on five hits over 8.0 innings of work. Joey Wise came in relief of Naderer and struck out his final batter to get out of a bases loaded situation.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -(NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State baseball team came alive offensively on Saturday, Feb. 22, and defeated SIU-Edwardsville 16-14, and 12-2 in a doubleheader. The wins move the Aggies to 5-2 on the season.
The Aggies scored a total of 28 runs on 24 hits in the two games. While, defensively, the Aggies allowed 14 runs in game one, they tightened up in the second game and allowed only two. Juniors Riley Barr and Robert Kraft came away with the wins in the two games on Saturday.

SAVANNAH, Ga. –(CSU Media Relations) Chicago State baseball earned their first victory of the season on Saturday (Feb. 22) thanks to a 14-5 defeat of Savannah State in game two of a doubleheader at Tiger Field. Chicago State fell in game one 7-4. The Cougars recorded four triples on the day.
For the third time in four games, Chicago State was the first on the board thanks to a pair of runs in the top of the first. Junior Robert Swenson (Mason City, Iowa/Mason City) had a two-out RBI single in the frame. The Tigers scored four times in their half of the first, chasing Chicago State starter senior Dylan Sterrett (Chalmers, Ind./Frontier) in the process.

MALIBU, Calif. –(UVU Media Relations) Utah Valley University dropped its second straight game at Pepperdine, 9-2, after a five-run eighth inning allowed the Waves (5-1) to pull away late.
The Wolverines (2-5) trailed 2-0 in the third when Jackson Kunz and Kade Andrus led off with consecutive singles. They both moved up 90 feet on a sacrifice bunt by Riley White before Zach Slesk then doubled into the corner in left, tying the game at 2-2.

EDINBURG –(UTPA Media Relations) For the first time in 42 years, the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team recorded back-to-back 1-0 wins after beating the Prairie View A&M University Panthers on Saturday at Edinburg Baseball Stadium in the Broncs' second game of the Al Ogletree Classic.
The last time the Broncs (4-2) won back-to-back 1-0 games was April 28-29, 1972, when they won a pair of games at Baylor.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—(CSUB Media Relations) Three freshmen pitchers combined on a six-hitter as Bakersfield (5-2) defeated Towson (3-2) 8-1 Saturday night at Hardt Field.
The starter, Steven Gee (Taft, Calif., Taft Union HS) scattered two hits and did not allow a run over the first seven innings before giving way to fellow Alec Daily (Temecula, Calif., Great Oak HS) to start the eighth with a 5-0 lead. The first three Towson batters reached with Peter Bowles driving in Dominic Fratantuono. Bowles’ hit chased Daily in favor of a third freshman, Garrett Nimmo (Temecula, Calif., Temecula Valley HS).

COLLEGE STATION, Texas –(SAC Media Relations) Sacramento State rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the seventh inning and a 5-2 deficit with three runs in the top of the ninth, but in the bottom half Texas A&M third baseman Logan Nottebrok launched a 2-run walk off homer, his second 2-run shot of the game, to give the 21st-ranked Aggies a 7-5 win.
Hornet senior third baseman Will Soto came through with two outs in the ninth inning, lining a double into right center to score two runs after David Del Grande had a leadoff double in the inning and scored on a sacrifice fly. In the bottom of the ninth Blake Allemand drew a leadoff walk and Nottebrok hit a no doubter over the left field wall for his third home run of the season.
