DENVER – Kansas City’s Michelle Momo and Dahlia Dyson have been named the Western Athletic Conference women’s track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Feb. 17-23.
Momo, a senior from Fort Worth, Texas (L.D. Bell HS), led the way for the ‘Roos with victories in the women’s long jump and the 60-meter dash at the UCM Classic in Warrensburg, Mo. Momo jumped 5.67m (18.7-25), the fourth-longest jump in school history. She followed that with a 60-meter championship with a time of 7.75. She will enter the WAC Championships ranked second in both the long jump and the triple jump in the conference.
Dyson, a junior from O’Fallon, Mo. (Fort Zumwalt West HS), earned two second-place finishes at the UCM Classic in Warrensburg, Mo. In the women’s weight throw she finished with a mark of 17.23m (56-6.50) and in the shot put hit 13.26m (43-6). Going into the WAC Championships she is ranked first in the WAC in the weight throw and third in the shot put. This is her second WAC Athlete of the Week honor this season.
