CHICAGO STATE
Chicago State went 0-2 last weekend, dropping a 5-2 match to South Dakota State and a 6-1 match to Grand Canyon ... Mario Noboa went 2-0 on the week and has now won two straight singles matches for the first time since winning three straight this fall ... Noboa has won eight singles matches this season after winning just six all of last year ... this week, the Cougars host Quincy University on Saturday.
GRAND CANYON
Grand Canyon went 2-0 last week, defeating St. Francis, 9-0, and Chicago State, 6-1 ... Adrian Legarreta went 4-0 combined in singles and doubles ... Legarreta earned two wins at No. 3 singles, defeating St. Francis’ Anders Sandberg (6-2, 6-3) and Chicago State’s Uros Pajic (6-1, 6-0) ... along with his partner Nicolas Moulin, Legarreta picked up two wins at No. 2 doubles ... GCU improved to 4-3 on the season with the two wins ... this week, Grand Canyon travels to Edinburg, Texas for two matches, facing Texas-Pan American and Kansas City.
IDAHO
The Vandals went 2-0 last weekend, picking up wins over Gonzaga, 5-2, and Kansas City, 6-1 ... Idaho snapped its five match losing streak with the wins ... Artemiy Nikitin went 3-0 in singles play and 1-2 in doubles with two tight losses ... he moved up one singles spot each match during the week, finishing with a straight-set win over WAC foe Mike Psarros of UMKC at the No. 1 spot ... his doubles losses were by scores of 8-7 and 8-6, before picking up an 8-2 win with a new partner ... this week, Idaho will travel to Utah for matches against Utah State on Friday and BYU on Saturday.
KANSAS CITY
Kansas City went 2-2 on a trip to the Northwest, defeating Lewis-Clark State (5-2) and Eastern Washington (4-3), while falling to Idaho (6-1) and Gonzaga (4-0) ... this week, Kansas City will travel to Edinburg, Texas for matches against Grand Canyon on Saturday and Texas-Pan American on Sunday.
NEW MEXICO STATE
New Mexico State went 1-1 last weekend, defeating Abilene Christian, 6-1, and falling to Arizona, 4-2 ... Germain Degardin and Patrick Pfister each won both of their matches on the week ... this week, the Aggies are off ... NM State will be back in action on March 8 against UTSA and on March 9 against UT Arlington.
SEATTLE U
Seattle U went 0-2 last weekend, dropping a doubleheader to Washington, 6-0, in both matches ... this week, Seattle U has a weekend off from competition, before facing Oregon and Montana State in Eugene, Ore. on Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8.
TEXAS-PAN AMERICAN
The Broncs lost 6-1 to UT Arlington in their only match of the week ... the Broncs got their lone doubles win at No. 1 doubles behind the team of Ricardo Hopker and Chetan Panditi ... in singles, Panditi provided the lone point for the Broncs as he defeated Carlos Arbiza in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles ... this week, the Broncs will host Grand Canyon on Friday and Kansas City on Sunday.
WAC TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD IN LAS CRUCES
The 2014 WAC Tennis Tournament will be held April 25-27 in Las Cruces, N.M. The WAC conference championship will be up for grabs, as last year’s champions, Denver, has since departed the WAC.
