Texas-Pan American 84, Bakersfield 62
The Broncs handed Bakersfield its fourth WAC loss of the season Thursday, defeating the Roadrunners 84-62 at the UTPA Fieldhouse. With the victory, Texas-Pan American improves to 13-14 overall and 7-7 in WAC play. Bakersfield falls to 16-10 on the season and 10-4 in the WAC with the loss.
UTPA shot 47 percent from the field, 39 percent from three-point range and 84 percent from the free throw line on the game. The Roadrunners connected on 46 percent from the floor, 29 percent from downtown and 70 percent from the charity stripe. The Broncs won the rebounding battle, 38-27.
Shawnte' Goff led all players with 22 points, while KaeLynn Boyd added 21. Jasmine Thompson finished with 12.
Tyonna Outland paced Bakersfield with 14 points.
Grand Canyon 67, at Kansas City 63
The Antelopes defeated Kansas City 67-63 in WAC action at the Swinney Recreation Center Thursday. With the win, Grand Canyon improves to 18-8 on the season and 7-6 in WAC play. The Kangaroos fall to 10-17 overall and 6-8 in the WAC with the defeat.
The 'Lopes shot 48 percent from the field, 29 percent from three-point range and 63 percent from the free throw line on the game. UMKC connected on 44 percent from the floor, 18 percent from beyond the arc and 73 percent from the line. The 'Roos out-rebounded GCU 34-28.
Deanna Daniels led all players with a career-high 32 points. Johnna Brown grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and dished out seven assists.
Eilise O'Connor led Kansas City with 28 points, while Kim Nezianya added 13 points, Calli White finished with 10 points.
Utah Valley 87, at New Mexico State 81
The Wolverines used a 23-5 run in the second half to defeat the Aggies 87-81 at the Pan American Center Thursday and pick up just their second road win of the season. With the win, Utah Valley moves to 7-20 overall and 4-10 in WAC play. New Mexico State drops to 10-17 overall and 7-7 in the WAC.
The Wolverines shot 60 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range and 79 percent from the free throw line on the game. NM State connected on 43 percent from the floor, 42 percent from downtown and 100 percent from the charity stripe. Utah Valley won the rebounding battle, 35-29.
Georgia Agnew and Rhaiah Spooner-Knight led a group of five Wolverines in double-digit scoring with 18 points each. Katie Kuklok added 16 points, Sam Loggins had 14 and Whitney Jenkins tallied 11. Loggins also pulled down a game-high nine boards.
Abby Scott led all players with 29 points, while Sasha Weber and Danesia Williamson scored 15 each and Elena Holguin finished with 12. Weber dished out eight assists, while Tyler Ellis had a team-high eight rebounds.
