The Antelopes defeated San Diego 3-1 in their first game of the San Diego Classic I Thursday to improve to 9-8 on the season. Claire Zampini accounted for two of Grand Canyon's four hits with one RBI, while Kelsey Barak and Lauren Regester drove in the other two runs. Stephanie Pesqueira threw a complete-game win four-hitter, striking out two with no walks.
UC Santa Barbara 7, Utah Valley 0
The Wolverines were shut out 7-0 by UC Santa Barbara in their first gmae of the Louisville Slugger Invitational Thursday. Brittney Vansway and Jamie North accounted for the two Utah Valley hits in the loss.
Long Beach State 8, Utah Valley 0 (6)
Later in the day, the Wolverines fell to 0-12 on the season with a six-inning 8-0 loss to the host 49ers. Dynasty Lauvai, Brianna Gatlin and Hailey Kofler had one hit each for Utah Valley.
