Jared Williams Named Championships and Compliance Intern

DENVER - Western Athletic Conference Commissioner Jeff Hurd today announced the hiring of Jared Williams, a 2009 graduate of Hampton University and a 2013 graduate of Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, as the WAC’s compliance and championships intern for the remainder of the 2013-14 academic year.

Williams received the Law Excellence Award from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law for the Highest Grade in his Evidence/Procedure Seminar: Virtual Justice and Electronic Truth.

He also studied international, professional and amateur sports law in Florence, Italy, in the summer of 2011. Williams was a law clerk for Sharonda Williams in the New Orleans City Attorney's office.

Williams played on the men's golf team at Hampton University, where he was also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for the school. Williams made the Dean's List at Hampton from 2005-2009 and was an Academic All-MEAC honoree from 2006-09.

A native of Lake Charles, La., Williams served as a mentor for the Hampton Roads youth doing volunteer golf clinics. He was involved in The First Tee of Hampton Roads. He also has experience interning for the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), Houston Astros, PGA Tour TPC Sawgrass, and the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA).

Williams was most recently an athletic compliance intern at the University of New Orleans.
