LONG BEACH, Calif. --(UVU Media Relations) Jordy Hart went 5-for-5 with a three-run home run and five RBIs as Utah Valley University won the finale of a three-game series at Long Beach State, 13-8, on Sunday afternoon. The Wolverines (4-11) had season-highs in runs and hits (16) in avoiding a series sweep against the Dirtbags (8-7).
Hart led off the game with a single and scored on a Sean Moysh triple during a three-run first inning for UVU. Moysh and Seth Rhineer both scored on a double by Craig Brinkerhoff, who had three hits on the day.

Chicago State 6, McNeese State 3
NATCHITOCHES, La. –(CSU Media Relations) Junior Ean McNeal (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier) allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits with no walks to help Chicago State baseball defeat McNeese State 6-3 on Sunday (March 9) in a neutral site game played on the campus of Northwestern State.
McNeal's first complete game of the season came on just 97 pitches. McNeal faced the minimum in the first inning and by the time he took the mound in the second inning, the Cougars had six runs on the board.

Grand Canyon 5, Omaha 2
Phoenix, Ariz.-(GCU Media Relations) The Grand Canyon University baseball team (7-8) picked up their third straight victory over Omaha (5-7) as they defeated the Mavericks 5-2 in the series finale today at Brazell Stadium. The Antelopes had another strong day at the plate, collecting 10 hits while the pitching staff did not allow a run until the eighth inning.
"It's not easy to lose a series opener and come back and win three," said head coach Andy Stankiewicz. "I am proud of the team. Today was one of our most complete games we've played this year. We played some nice defense, highlighted by that big double play to end the game. We had some good at-bats and good situational hitting. That gives us a chance to be competitive."

GREELEY –(NC Media Relations) Using a six-run seventh inning, the Northern Colorado baseball team won the second game of the doubleheader 8-6 over North Dakota State to split the four-game series. The Bison won the first game of the day 7-3 in seven innings.
The Bears are now 4-12 on the season, while the Bison are 4-6. Northern Colorado takes to the road for the next four series – starting at Nebraska for a two-game set on Tuesday at 12:35 pm (MT).

LUBBOCK, Texas –(NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State baseball team concluded play on Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park on Sunday afternoon with a 14-4 loss to No. 30 Texas Tech. The Aggies fall to 7-9 on the season while the Red Raiders improve to 14-3.
NM State accumulated nine hits on the day with sophomore left fielder Joe Koerper, who was playing in his first series after missing the previous two due to injury, marking one-third of the Aggie hits after finishing 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

#9 Cal Poly 2, Seattle U 1
SEATTLE-(SU Media Relations) Seattle University had a chance to pull off a comeback victory over nationally-ranked Cal Poly, but the Mustangs made some key defensive plays in the late innings to hold off the Redhawks, 2-1, Sunday in collegiate baseball action at Meridian Park.
Seattle U was down 2-0 with its first 13 batters retired by Cal Poly starter Casey Bloomquist before Cullen Hendrickson (Auburn, Wash.) hit a one-out double off the right field wall in the fifth inning, and Brock Carpenter (Milton, Wash.) followed with a single to center field to put runners on the corners. However, Bloomquist earned a strikeout and a flyout to pitch out of the jam without any runners scoring.

ST. LOUIS, Mo.--(UND Media Relations) North Dakota held an early 2-0 lead but a four-run fourth inning propelled host Saint Louis to a 4-2 win Sunday afternoon at Lindenwood University.
"We gave a much better effort today both on the physical and mental side of things," UND head coach Jeff Dodson said. "We had opportunities to win but a letdown in the inning with a couple hit batters, two wild pitches and a single helping them put up more runs.

UC Riverside 6, Sacramento State 1
RIVERSIDE, Calif. –(SAC Media Relations) UC Riverside senior righthander Zach Varela threw a complete game, allowing just one unearned run, and the Highlanders used six stolen bases to spearhead a 6-1 win over Sacramento State on Sunday in Riverside.
Sacramento State (7-9) went winless in three games over the weekend in Riverside (two vs. UC Riverside and one vs. West Virginia) and was outscored 23-3, scoring just one run in each game. The Hornets did have seven hits and a walk on Sunday but stranded eight runners on base.
