CHICAGO STATE
Chicago State went 2-0 last weekend, defeating Northern Illinois, 4-2, and Green Bay, 7-0 ... this week, CSU travels to Orlando, Fla. for three matches, against South Dakota State on Tuesday, Coastal Carolina on Wednesday and Bethune-Cookman on Thursday.
GRAND CANYON
Grand Canyon was off last weekend ... in its last action, GCU recorded a pair of wins and improved to 6-3 overall ... the ‘Lopes dropped Texas-Pan American, 5-2, and Kansas City, 4-0 ... Tatum Prudhomme went 4-0 combined in singles and doubles ... she swept her match against Kansas City’s Racquel Argenal, 6-0, 6-0, and added a three-set win over UTPA’s Wanda Beguelin ... the 16-year old is 6-2 overall, having won her last six matches in a row ... this week, GCU is back in action with a trip to the islands to face Pacific on Friday and Hawai’i on Sunday.
IDAHO
The Vandals extended their win streak to 11-matches in a row last week after defeating Sacred Heart and Hawai’i Pacific, both 7-0, before falling to Hawai’i, 4-3, on Saturday ... the Hawai’i match began with singles play, but after Idaho and Hawai`i split the six singles matches, the doubles point was necessary to decide the match ... Almudena Sanz went 3-0 on the week at the No.2 singles spot ... this week, the Vandals are off ... Idaho is back in action against Portland in Spokane, Wash. on March 23
KANSAS CITY
The ‘Roos were off last night ... UMKC went 0-2 in its last action, falling to both Grand Canyon (4-0) and Texas-Pan American (5-2) in Edinburg, Texas ... against UTPA, Kansas City got singles wins from Dimitra Stavrianakou at No. 1 and Mariam Kurasbediani, playing up at the No. 4 spot, in straight sets ... this week, Kansas City is back in action, travelling to California for two matches, facing Air Force on Friday and Cal State Northridge on Sunday.
NEW MEXICO STATE
New Mexico State was off last weekend ... NM State went 0-3 in its last action, dropping three road matches ... the Aggies fell at Stephen F. Austin (5-2), Rice (5-2) and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (4-3) ... this week, the Aggies are off again ... NM State won’t be in action again until March 21 at home against New Mexico.
SEATTLE U
Seattle U fell to Arizona in its only match last week, 7-0 ... it was the final home match of the year for the Redhawks ... SU will head to Reno, Nev. next weekend to will face Nevada on Friday, Montana on Saturday,and UMBC on Sunday.
TEXAS-PAN AMERICAN
The Broncs have now won a program record six straight matches and now are 11-4 on the season after sweeping all four matches last week ... the 11 wins is tied for third most in program history ... UTPA topped Prairie View A&M (4-0), Grambling (6-0), Alcorn State (4-1) and Louisiana-Lafayette (4-1), all on the road ... freshman Katia Stavroulaki went 3-0 in singles at the No. 2 and No. 3 position, with an unfinished match that she was leading, and was 4-0 at No. 2 doubles ... this week, the Broncs continue their six-match road trip with visits to Nicholls State and Oral Roberts.
WAC TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD IN LAS CRUCES
The 2014 WAC Tennis Tournament will be held April 25-27 in Las Cruces, N.M. The WAC conference championship will be up for grabs, as last year’s champions, San Jose State, has since departed the WAC.
