OREM, Utah -(UVU Media Relations) Sean Moysh's eighth-inning home run helped lift Utah Valley baseball to an 8-5 victory over North Dakota Friday night in both teams' first-ever WAC game.
With the game deadlocked at 5-5 in the bottom of the eighth, the senior Moysh stepped to the plate with a runner aboard. Moysh didn't disappoint as blasted a two-run homer to right center to put the Wolverines (5-12, 1-0 WAC) on top for good.

Bakersfield 4, Grand Canyon 2
BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--(CSUB Media Relations) Bakersfield baseball opened its 2014 WAC play against Grand Canyon. The ‘Runners defeated the Antelopes by a score of 4-2.
Taylor Aikenhead (Sr., Lancaster, Calif., Bakersfield College) took the mound to start the game for the ‘Runners and started strong with two swinging strikeouts in the first inning. Aikenhead’s counterpart, Jorge Perez, came out of the gate with a bit more trouble as Oscar Sanay (Sr., Chula Vista, Calif., Bonita Vista HS) doubled with two outs. Soloman Williams (Jr., ) ignited an offensive explosion with a monster hit that one-hopped the center field wall and stayed in for a stand-up, RBI double. Chance Gusbeth (So., Lancaster, Calif., Desert Christian HS) followed up with an RBI single and Nick Vehlewald (So., Bakersfield, Calif., Garces HS) added a double over the right fielder’s head. The fourth hit of the inning gave the ‘Runners a 3-0 lead over the ‘Lopes.

Texas-Pan American 3, #18 Oklahoma State 1
#18 Oklahoma State 4, Texas-Pan American 3
STILLWATER, Okla. –(UTPA Media Relations) The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team fell 4-3 in the second game of their doubleheader with the No. 15 Oklahoma State University Cowboys on Friday at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
With the game tied at three in the bottom of the eighth, pinch-hitter Saulyer Saxon delivered the winning run with an RBI single to left field.

New Mexico State 6, UC Davis 4
Davis, Calif. –(NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State baseball team opened a four-game series Friday afternoon, with a 6-4 win over UC Davis at Dobbins Stadium on the UC Davis campus. The Aggies are now 8-9 on the season, while UC Davis falls to 8-9 on the year.
The win breaks the Aggies’ four-game losing streak, pulling them one game within .500. As a team, the Aggies were out hit by UC Davis, 10-to-13 but were able to cross home plate two more times than their opponent.

Minnesota 2, Sacramento State 1
SACRAMENTO, Calif. –(SAC Media Relations) Down 2-1 with a man on first in the ninth inning Hornet freshman Brandon Hunley hit what looked to be a game-tying RBI double but Minnesota center fielder Jordan Smith made a diving catch and doubled off the runner at first to end the game and give the Gophers the win.
Minnesota (8-5) allowed just one unearned run in the game as starter Alec Crawford allowed just six hits in six innings with four strikeouts and reliever Dalton Sawyer pitched the last three without allowing a hit to earn the save. Junior Brennan Leitao gave Sacramento State (7-10) seven solid innings allowing just two runs but ended up taking his third loss of the season.

Kansas State 10, Northern Colorado 0
MANHATTAN, Kan. –(NC Media Relations) The last two baseball games between Northern Colorado and Kansas State have both been shutouts, but the first of a three game series in 2014 went the way of the Wildcats on Friday evening at Tointon Family Stadium, as they won 10-0.
Kansas State sophomore Levi MaVorhis pitched a perfect game through seven innings before Bears freshman Jake Ekman (Littleton, Colo.) broke it up with a single to right field. An inning later, senior Colby Harrison (Cheyenne, Wyo.) dropped down a bunt for a single, but those were the only two hits of the night for UNC (5-14).
