DENVER – Utah Valley’s Brooke Hodson-Davies and Texas-Pan American’s Jasmine Davison have been named the Western Athletic Conference women’s track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for March 10-16.
Hodson-Davies, a senior from Orem, Utah (Timpanogos HS), won the 3000-meter steeplechase and took third in the 1500m over the weekend at a series of events in Southern California. Hodson-Davies opened her weekend with by winning the steeplechase at the Oxy Distance Carnival with a time of 10:27.98. Her blazing time was 35 seconds faster than the second-place finisher and 2.5 seconds quicker than her 2013 NCAA qualifying time. She then followed up her stellar outing by taking third in the 1500-meter run at Cal State Fullerton’s Ben Brown Invitational with a time of 4:40.50. Hodson-Davies currently ranks second in the nation for the outdoor season in the steeplechase and 18th in the 1500m.
Davison, a junior from San Antonio, TX (Roosevelt HS), posted two top-10 finishes at the Islander Open in Corpus, Christi, Texas. She won the women’s hammer throw with a distance of 52.17 meters and also finished in seventh place in the women’s shot put with a distance of 12.47 meters. Her distance in the hammer throw was her personal best, is the third-best throw in program history, and is the best mark in the WAC this season by almost 4.5 meters.
