Grand Canyon 3, Arizona 1

Tuscon, Ariz.-(GCU Media Relations) In their first meeting in nearly 11 years, the Grand Canyon University baseball team (10-9, 2-1 WAC) defeated the University of Arizona (11-12, 1-2 Pac-12) by a score of 3-1 tonight at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson, Ariz.. It was their third straight win and the first meeting between the two teams since April 22, 2003. It also marked the first win for the Antelopes over the Wildcats since a 17-8 victory on April 16, 2002 in Tucson.

The 'Lopes used a ninth-inning rally to break a 1-1 tie, using two timely hits and a pair of walks to give themselves a two-run cushion.

GCU starter Ethan Evanko did not factor into the decision, but tossed 6.0 strong innings, allowing just one run on six hits and no walks with four strikeouts. Scott Serigstad earned the win with 0.2 scoreless innings, getting the final two outs of the eighth inning.

Sacramento State 4, UC Irvine 2

SACRAMENTO, Calif. –(SAC Media Relations) Sacramento State redshirt freshman Ryan Locke delivered a pinch hit, bases loaded two-run double in the eighth inning to break a 2-2 deadlock and spur the Hornets to a 4-2 win over Pacific on Tuesday night at Raley Field.

Locke is now 4-for-4 as a pinch hitter this season and helped Sacramento State (9-11) improve to 4-0 on the year in midweek games, including a 3-0 record at Raley Field. Pacific (10-13) allowed a pair of two-run doubles in the game, with Hornet junior Rhys Hoskins also driving in two runs on a ground rule double in the third inning.

Bakersfield 3, Can State Northridge 2

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.-(CSUB Media Relations) Bakersfield (8-11) defeated Cal State Northridge (8-14) 3-2 in baseball action Tuesday afternoon at Matador Field.

The Roadrunners took the lead in the top of the second on a Logan Trowbridge (Jr., Santa Cruz, Calif., College of San Mateo) RBI triple. Andrew Lojewski (Jr., Woodland, Calif., American River College) smacked a two-run home run in the top of the fourth to increase the 'Runner advantage.

Valparaiso 7, Chicago State 1

CHICAGO –(CSU Media Relations) Baseball returned to the Chicago State University campus on Tuesday (March 18) afternoon as the Cougars hosted Valparaiso in the first ever game at Cougar Stadium. However Chicago State's first home victory will have to wait as the Crusaders earned a 7-1 win over the Cougars.

The Cougars' first hit in the new stadium came off the bat of junior Chase Matheson (McHenry, Ill./McHenry) in the form of a leadoff ground rule double to left field in the second inning. Matheson was stranded there after three consecutive outs.

CORPUS CHRISTI – (UTPA Media Relations) The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team fell to the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Islanders 8-7 in game one of a doubleheader on Tuesday at Chapman Field.

Texas A&M Corpus Christi 12, Texas-Pan American 5

CORPUS CHRISTI – (UTPA Media Relations) The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team fell to the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Islanders 12-5 in game two of a doubleheader on Tuesday at Chapman Field.

The Broncs (10-13) got their runs in the fourth. Down 6-0, senior Alberto Morales and sophomore PSJA alum Bryan Ramirez drew leadoff walks. After a groundout moved the runners into scoring position, senior Brandon Roush came up with a two-out single up the middle to drive in both runs.

Utah 7, Utah Valley 3

SALT LAKE CITY --(UVU Media Relations) Despite leading 3-1 into the bottom of the sixth inning, Utah Valley University surrendered six late runs in a 7-3 loss at Utah at Smith's Ballpark on Tuesday night.

The Wolverines (5-15) took a 2-0 lead in the fourth on a two-out single by Craig Brinkerhoff that scored both Greyson Bogden and Sean Moysh. Utah got one run back in the bottom of the inning after an error, on of four Wolverines errors on the day, prolonged the inning and allowed a run to score,
