Bakersfield Roadrunners  
Bakersfield competed at the Ben Brown Invitational in Fullerton, Calif. last weekend ... there were no team scores ... freshman Ariana Mariscal excelled in the 800m race, finishing with a time of 2:15.28 ... Gabby Giuliano finished fifth in the javelin competition with a throw of 111’-10”...  junior Bryan Wilmert placed second in a pool of 42 throwers with a throw of 60.05m (197’-00”), which  placed him in a tie with Jason Henry (1999) for seventh overall all-time in Bakersfield history ... Wilmert’s throw was good enough for fifth in the nation so far this season and leads the WAC ... Wilmert was named WAC field Athlete of the Week... this week, the ‘Runners are off ... CSUB will be back in action March 28-29 at the Cal Poly Invitational in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Chicago State Cougars
Chicago State competed at the Seahawk Invite in Wilmington, N.C. last week ... the men placed sixth and the women placed ninth ...senior Jaya Emerson earned fifth place in the shot put  with a mark of 13.25 meters ... Emerson also took 11th in the discus (36.79m and eighth in the hammer throw (43.33m) ... sophomore Jusilya Scott set a personal best in the long jump with a leap of 4.76m ... Freshman Tyler Whittler crossed the finish line fifth in the 100 meters (11.00) and was seventh in the 200 meters (22.23) ... Whittler combined with senior Corey Scharf, sophomore Kory Jackson and senior Tyler Odom to run the 4x100 meter relay in a time of 42.05 to finish in second behind UNC Wilmington ... CSU is off this week and returns to the track on March 29 at the College of DuPage Invite.

Grand Canyon ‘Lopes
Grand Canyon University will look to carry its success from the indoor season over to the outdoor season when the Antelopes open their outdoor slate this weekend at the Willie Williams Invitational in Tucson, Ariz. ... the two-day event will get underway on Friday at Drachman Stadium on the campus of the University of Arizona ... the ‘Lopes will be eligible to compete in the Western Athletic Conference Championships in Orem, Utah on May 14-17, but are unable to continue their outdoor season at the NCAA Championships due to NCAA rules pertaining to the transition period ... Shavine Hodges will look to continue her dominance on the track for the GCU women, as the senior will close out her record-setting career this spring in a GCU uniform ... the speedster took home WAC crowns in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash last month ... at the WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, GCU placed first and the men placed second.

Idaho Vandals  
The Vandals will compete at the Whitworth Buc Scoring Meet Wash. on Friday and Saturday ... the UI men’s track and field team claimed the 2014 Indoor WAC track and field championship title in a dramatic meet that came down to one point, 173-172 over Grand Canyon ... the women ended the meet in third place with 127 points ... for the men, after the 4x400m, the triple jump was the last event to be scored – going into the final jumps, Idaho led with 157 points followed closely by Grand Canyon with 152 ... freshman Arphaxad Carroll came up big for Idaho with a career-best jump of 49-2.5 (15.00m) that secured the win for the Vandals ... the Vandals’ men claimed five WAC titles on the final day of the meet ... sophomore Marquita Palmer placed third in the mile with a career-best time of 5:00.31 and came back to run a second-place time of 2:14.35 in the 800m.

Kansas City Kangaroos
Kansas City starts up the outdoor season on Friday at the Tulsa Duels ... UMKC last competed at the 2014 WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships from Feb. 26-28 in Moscow, Idaho ... the UMKC women finished second overall with 144.5 points and the men finished fourth with 80 points ... three women claimed awards, Courtney Frerichs received the Outstanding Track Performer award, Dahlia Dyson received the Outstanding Field Performer award, and Briana Carter receiving High Point Award ... starting the meet off with a record breaking throw of 18.59m (61-00-00), Dyson captured the winning spot in the women’s 20 lb. weight throw ... Frerichs claimed victories in both the 3000m and the 5000m .... Bryce Miller was second in the men’s mile run in a time of 4:18.24.
 
New Mexico State Aggies
The New Mexico State track and field team’s outdoor season begins this week in El Paso, Texas, where the Aggies will compete in the UTEP Springtime Invitational on Saturday ... NM State’s women finished the indoor competition in the 2014 Western Athletic Conference Championships with a fifth-place finish ... the Aggies ended with 69 points ... junior Diana Hawk finished the day as the individual champion in the 1-mile run, with a time of 4:57.42 ... Hawk also finished fifth in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:12.88 ... .... senior Deserae Cota won the individual championship in the pentathlon ... senior Alishia Perkins finished second overall in the 200-meter dash ... she finished with a time of 24.42, and also finished fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.67 ... the 4x400-meter relay team finished second with a time of 2:46.28.

Seattle University Redhawks
The Redhawks open the 2014 outdoor season at the Oregon Preview on Saturday ... SU last competed at the 2014 WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships from Feb. 26-28 in Moscow, Idaho to conclude the indoor season ... in the team standings, the Seattle U men finished in sixth place with 44.5 points, while the Redhawk women finished seventh with 22 points ... Shaddye Melu picked finished second in the high jump by clearing 2.08 meters (6’ 9.75”) and took third place in the 400m with a school-record time of 48.25 seconds ... Austin Thummel-Gravitt earned Second Team All-WAC honors after finishing sixth in the 400m 49.10 seconds ... Collin Overbay was third place in the men’s one mile run, posting a time of 4:18.30 ... later in the day, he finished third in the 3000 meter run in 8:40.08.

Texas-Pan American Broncs
Texas-Pan American competed at the Islander Open in Corpus Christi, Texas, last weekend ... for the women, Jasmine Davison was crowned the first Broncs’ outdoor champion as she won the hammer throw with a distance of 52.17 meters ... Cristina Santiago Bravo finished in second place with a throw of 48.73 meters while Vivian Espinoza finished in fourth with a throw of 45.65 meters ... Deandra Barroso won the 400-Meter Hurdles with a time of 1:02.77, while Stephanie Vazquez finished in sixth with a time of 1:06.67 ... on the men’s side, Trey Taylor was crowned first outdoor champion as he won the javelin throw with a mark of 52.32 meters ... this week, the Broncs are back in action on Saturday at the IBC Bank Cactus Cup in Kingsville.

Utah Valley Wolverines
Utah Valley competed at the Oxy Distance Carnival and the Ben Brown Invitational last week in California ... senior distance runner Brooke Hodson-Davies won the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Oxy Distance Carnival on Friday and placed third in 1500m on Saturday at the Ben Brown Invite ... Hodson-Davies, who qualified for the NCAA’s in the steeplechase a year ago, recorded a personal record in the 3000m steeplechase as she finished 35 seconds ahead of everyone else with a time of 10:27.98 ... freshman Bennie Foster also had an outstanding meet on Saturday as she set a new school record in the women’s pole vault by clearing 3.40m (11’-01.75’) to finish second ... this week, UVU is off ... the Wolverines will be back in action on March 28 when they host the UVU Collegiate at the Hal Wing Track & Field.
