Utah Valley 6, Dallas Baptist 3

DALLAS –(UVU Media Relations) A five-run rally in the ninth propelled Utah Valley University to a 6-3 win at Dallas Baptist on Saturday at Horner Ballpark. The win is the Wolverines’ second straight and clinches the three-game series that concludes on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.

Trailing 3-1 entering the ninth, Craig Brinkerhoff led off with a base hit before the Wolverines got a pair of breaks. Seth Rhineer reached on catcher’s interference before a Zach Slesk bunt ricocheted off of Nash Knight’s glove at third, loading the bases.

Sacramento State 16, Northern Colorado 1 (7)

SACRAMENTO, Calif. –(SAC Media Relations) Sacramento State scored three runs in the fourth inning, five runs in the fifth inning, and eight runs in the sixth to earn a 7-inning 16-1 mercy rule victory over Northern Colorado on Saturday at John Smith Field.

The game was scoreless through 3 1/3 innings before the Hornet onslaught. Sacramento State (11-11, 2-0 WAC) scored its 16 runs on 15 hits as Northern Colorado (5-18, 0-2 WAC) issued nine walks, hit two batters, and committed two errors. The Hornets have outscored the Bears 25-3 through the first two games of the weekend series.

New Mexico State 7, Texas-Pan American 4

EDINBURG, Texas –(NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State baseball team picked up its first Western Athletic Conference win of the season on Saturday night as the Aggies beat Texas-Pan American, 7-4, at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

Four runs in the second inning and three in the sixth were enough to give the Aggies their ninth win of the season as they improve to 9-13 while the Broncs fall to 11-14. Both teams are now 1-1 in WAC play.

UC Irvine 4, Grand Canyon 0

Irvine, Calif.-(GCU Media Relations) The Grand Canyon University baseball team (10-11, 2-1 WAC) fell 4-0 to UC Irvine (15-7, 0-0 BWC) today in the second game of their series at Anteater Ballpark in Irvine, Calif. The Antelopes were shutout for the second game in a row despite finding themselves with scoring opportunities in three different innings.

"We are kind of getting schooled here in the art of baseball," said head coach Andy Stankiewicz. "It's a matter of not making adjustments at the plate. We came out today and made an error on the very first play of the game, and that can't happen. That's not who we are."

South Dakota State 10, Chicago State 6 (10)

CHICAGO –(CSU Media Relations) Chicago State dropped the third and final game of a non-conference series with South Dakota State on Saturday (March 22) afternoon at Cougar Stadium 10-6 in 10 innings.

The Cougars took a 4-1 lead into the top of the ninth only to see the Jackrabbits score five runs. Chicago State tied it up with two runs in their half of the ninth, but a four spot by South Dakota State in the 10th ended up being the difference. Chicago State surrendered just four runs to South Dakota State over the first 31 innings of the series. Then the Jackrabbits scored nine runs in their final two times at bat.

Bakersfield 11, North Dakota 10

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-- (CSUB Media Relations) The Roadrunners held on against North Dakota Saturday night as Max Carter's four hits and four RBI led Bakersfield to a 11-10 victory.

The game started out sloppily for both teams as North Dakota and the ‘Runners both scored in the first inning. UND scored quickly off of a single followed by a monster double to the gap by Taylor Petersen. With the bases loaded and two outs, UND was gifted two runs when a fielding error by the Bakersfield second baseman allowed two runs to score for a 3-0 lead.
