DENVER – Grand Canyon’s Lance Parker and Idaho’s Andrey Levkiv have been named the Western Athletic Conference men’s track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for March 17-23.
Parker, a senior from Fort Worth, Texas (Western Texas Community College), took first in the 200-meter dash at the Willie Williams Invitational in Tucson, Ariz., crossing the line with a time of 21.48 seconds. The speedster also took fourth in the 100-meter sprint (10.71 seconds). Both times are the best in the WAC this year.
Levkiv, a senior from Renton, Wash. (Hazen HS), placed second in both the shot put and discus throw at the Buc Scoring Invite in Spokane, Wash. In the opening meet of the outdoor season, Levkiv reached 16.73-meters (54-10.75) in the shot put and 47.41m (155-6) in the discus throw. Both marks rank first in the WAC so far this season.
