Sacramento State 7, Air Force 1

SACRAMENTO, Calif. –(SAC Media Relations) Senior center fielder David Del Grande, who on Monday was named the WAC Hitter of the Week, continued his hot streak at the plate with a three-run home run in the fifth inning to lead Sacramento State to a 7-1 victory over Air Force on Tuesday at John Smith Field.

Sacramento State (13-11) won its fifth consecutive game as five Hornet pitchers combined to allow just one run on four hits. Air Force (4-19) committed six errors in the game and used four pitchers and 17 position players in the contest.

New Mexico 14, New Mexico State 4

LAS CRUCES, N.M. –(NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State baseball team lost to in-state rival New Mexico, 14-4, on Tuesday afternoon at Presley Askew Field. The Aggies are now 10-14 on the season while the Lobos improve to 17-8-1.

NM State managed seven hits on the day to the Lobos’ 17. Joe Koerper, the Aggies’ leading hitter, continued his hot streak by going 2-for-4, including his first long ball of the season, with two RBIs and a run scored. Koerper was the only Aggie with more than one hit. Three errors also hampered the NM State squad as seven of UNM’s 14 runs were unearned.

TCU 11, Texas-Pan American 0

FORT WORTH –(UTPA Media Relations) The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team opened up a five-game road trip with an 11-0 loss to the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs on Tuesday at Lupton Field.

Senior Broncs (11-16) starter Kyle Tokunaga (1-3) got off to a good start, holding the Horned Frogs (14-10) to two runs through the first four innings.

UC Irvine 7, Bakersfield 4

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.—(CSUB Media Relations) Pinch-hitter Justin Castro smacked a two-run double with two outs in the top of the eighth to put UC Irvine (16-8) up for good as the Anteaters defeated Bakersfield (10-13) 7-4 Tuesday night.

Due to a fatal automobile accident on the I-5, the umpires originally assigned to the game by the WAC could not travel to Bakersfield from the Los Angeles area. After a 65-minute delay, the game began with one umpire, Bob Williams, behind home plate.

UNLV 8, Utah Valley 3

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Utah Valley University dropped a midweek contest at UNLV, 8-3, on Tuesday night at Earl E Wilson Stadium. Greyson Bogden and Craig Brinkerhoff both homered for the Wolverines (7-17) but a five-run seventh proved to be the difference for the Rebels (17-7).

Bogden put the Wolverines (7-17) up 1-0 when he hit a solo home run, his first, with one out in the first. UNLV, which is ranked 25th in the latest Perfect Game poll, scored in each of the first three innings to lead 3-1.
