TEAM RECAPS
Bakersfield Roadrunners  
Bakersfield was off last week ... CSUB competed at the Ben Brown Invitational in Fullerton, Calif. on March 14-15 in its last action ... freshman Ariana Mariscal excelled in the 800m race, finishing with a time of 2:15.28 ... Gabby Giuliano finished fifth in the javelin competition with a throw of 111’-10”...  junior Bryan Wilmert placed second in a pool of 42 throwers with a throw of 60.05m (197’-00”), which  placed him in a tie with Jason Henry (1999) for seventh overall all-time in Bakersfield history ... Wilmert’s throw was good enough for fifth in the nation so far this season and leads the WAC ... Wilmert was named WAC field Athlete of the Week... CSUB will be back in action on Friday and Saturday at the Cal Poly Invitational in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Chicago State Cougars
Chicago State was off last week ... CSU competed at the Seahawk Invite in Wilmington, N.C. on March 14-15 in its last action ... the men placed sixth and the women placed ninth ...senior Jaya Emerson earned fifth place in the shot put with a mark of 13.25 meters ... Emerson also took 11th in the discus (36.79m and eighth in the hammer throw (43.33m) ... sophomore Jusilya Scott set a personal best in the long jump with a leap of 4.76m ... freshman Tyler Whittler crossed the finish line fifth in the 100 meters (11.00) and was seventh in the 200 meters (22.23) ... CSU is back in action on Saturday at the College of DuPage Invite in Glen Ellyn, Ill.

Grand Canyon ‘Lopes
The Grand Canyon University men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the Willie Williams Invitational over the weekend in Tucson, Ariz. ... the Antelopes recorded five first-place finishes in the women’s events (Shavine Hodges-100-meter dash, Moya McKenzie-400-meter dash, Jessica Yates-Triple Jump, Lauren Graham/Jennifer Rolph-tied for first in the pole vault) ... Kelsi Klotter shattered the school record in the 5,000-meter run, posting a time of 18:27.54 ... Lance Parker won the 200-meter dash in a time of 21.48 seconds ... Daniel Zupeuc placed second in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.90 meters ... the Antelopes will travel to San Diego this weekend to take part in the Aztec Track and Field Invitational.  

Idaho Vandals  
The University of Idaho track and field team opened up to 2014 outdoor season with a group of throwers at the Whitworth Buc Scoring Invite at Spokane, Wash. ... freshman Ana Pardo claimed the top spot in the women’s shot put with a heave of 44-2.5 (13.47m), while senior Andrey Levkiv finished second in the shot put (54-10.75,16.73m) and the discus throw (155-6, 47.41) ... senior Kyle Rothwell led the way for the men in the hammer throw with a second-place heave of 177-0 (53.94m), while junior Alex Taylor followed in ninth with a toss of 135-4 (41.26m) ... freshman Katie Wardsworth placed second in the women’s portion of the hammer throw with a mark of 155-6 (47.40m) ... this week the Vandals are off ... the Vandals will be in action next on April 4-5 at the Sam Adams Classic in Spokane, Wash., hosted by Whitworth University.

Kansas City Kangaroos
Kansas City opened up the outdoor season at the Tulsa Duels  last week ... the men went 2-2 in the duels, defeating South Dakota and Tulsa, but falling to Oklahoma State and Oral Roberts ... the women went 4-2, defeating Omaha, Oral Robers, South Dakota and Tulsa, but falling to Missouri State and Oklahoma State ...senior Shanelle Williams paced the ‘Roos finished first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.04 and sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.24 ... sophomore Kelsey Benoit finished second in the shot put, breaking the UMKC record with a toss of 13.68m (44-10.6) ... freshman Martin Williams notched third place finish in the discus throw (43.19m) ... this week, the ‘Roos will compete on Friday and Saturday at the Bob Cornell Spring Classic in Carbondale, Ill., hosted by Southern Illinois.

New Mexico State Aggies
The New Mexico State track and field team’s outdoor season began last week in El Paso, Texas, at the UTEP Springtime Invitational ... junior Jenna Banegas finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.76, and finished eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.39, both were personal bests for her ... in the 1x100-meter relay, Banegas helped her team finish second, posting  a time of 46.23 ... freshman Alexandra Winebark competed in the shot put where she finished sixth with a throw of 11.60m (38-00.75) ... in the discus, she finished fifth with a distance of 42.87m (140-08) ... this week, the Aggies travel to San Marcos, Texas on Thursday for the Bobcat Invitational.

Seattle University Redhawks
The Redhawks opened the 2014 outdoor season at the Oregon Preview last weekend ... Sophie Curatilo broke the school record in the women’s 3000-meter run, posting a time of 9:58.80, over four seconds faster than the previous record set almost six full years ago ... Collin Overbay broke his own school record, set at last year’s meet, finishing 13th overall in the 3000m with a time of 8:30.10 ... Alessandra Gonzales nearly set two more school records of her own in the 100m and 200m, finishing just a couple hundredths of a second off the mark .. this week, the Redhawks are off ... SU will be in action again at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival on April 4-5.

Texas-Pan American Broncs
The Broncs won seven events at the Cactus Cup last weekend ... Robin Galloso won the 800-meters and 1,500m, Deandra Barroso won the 400m hurdles, Leocajuan Williams won the triple jump, Cristina Santiago Bravo won the javelin, Martin Casse won the men’s 800m and Javier Carretero won the hammer throw ... Williams turned in a second place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.63m, best in the WAC and 39th in the West Region. ... Williams earned WAC Track and Field Athlete of the Week honors ... Barroso broke her own meet record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.54 ... Casse set the meet record in the 800m with a time of 1:52.73 ... this week, the Broncs have a pair of meets scheduled, splitting the team between the 87th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas and the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas.

Utah Valley Wolverines
Utah Valley was off last week ... UVU competed at the Oxy Distance Carnival and the Ben Brown Invitational from March 14-15 in its last action ... senior distance runner Brooke Hodson-Davies won the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Oxy Distance Carnival on Friday and placed third in 1500m on Saturday at the Ben Brown Invite ... Hodson-Davies, who qualified for the NCAA’s in the steeplechase a year ago, recorded a personal record in the 3000m steeplechase as she finished 35 seconds ahead of everyone else with a time of 10:27.98 ... freshman Bennie Foster also had an outstanding meet on Saturday as she set a new school record in the women’s pole vault by clearing 3.40m (11’-01.75’) to finish second ... the Wolverines will be back in action on Saturday, hosting the UVU Collegiate at the Hal Wing Track & Field.
