Grand Canyon 3, Kansas City 2 (8)
The Antelopes capitalized on three Kansas City errors, including one in the bottom of the eighth inning that allowed the winning run to score, in a 3-2 win over the Kangaroos in both teams' first-ever WAC game.

Kelsey Barak hit a two-run homer for Grand Canyon, while Kayla Henry and Lauren Regester had three hits each. Stephanie Pesqueira earned the complete-game win, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out four and walking one over eight innings to improve to 8-7 on the season.

Katie Kelley took the loss, allowing one earned run on eight hits over 5.2 innings. Alexandra Friloux hit a two-run blast to account for the Kansas City runs in the game.

Grand Canyon 6, Kansas City 1
In the nightcap, the 'Lopes used a five-run first inning to defeat the 'Roos 6-1. With the win, GCU improves to 17-15 on the season and 2-0 in the WAC. Kansas City drops to 10-25 on the year and 0-2 in WAC play.

Stephanie Smith was 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI, while Regester and Annie Jordan drove in one run each. Taylor Nowlin evened her record at 3-3 with the complete-game win. She allowed one run on five hits while striking out four and walking two.

Kenzie Flaws suffered the loss, allowing four runs on one hit with two walks over 2/3 of an inning. Kelley hit a solo homer to account for the Kansas City run.

New Mexico State 6, Seattle U 1
The Aggies had 11 hits in a 6-1 win over Seattle U to open WAC play Friday. With the victory, New Mexico State improves to 19-15 on the season and 1-0 in the WAC. The Redhawks drop to 11-21 overall and 0-1 in WAC play.

Emma Adams was 2-for-2 with a home run and one RBI, while Fiana Finau drove in two runs. Alyssa Ruiz had a pair of doubles and drove in a run. Karysta Donisthorpe earned the win in the circle, allowing one run on two hits over 3.1 innings to improve to 8-7 on the season.

Alyssa Reuble took the loss to fall to 2-9 on the year. She allowed four earned runs on nine hits while striking out four and walking four over five innings.

Utah Valley 4, Bakersfield 1
The Wolverines capitalized on four Bakersfield errors to defeat the Roadrunners 4-1 Friday in both teams first-ever WAC game. Utah Valley improves to 8-19 overall and 1-0 in WAC play with the win. Bakersfield falls to 9-26-1 on the season and 0-1 in the WAC with the loss.

Brittney Vansway was 3-for-3 with one run and two RBI to pace the Wolverines at the plate. Josi Summers earned the complete-game win to improve to 5-11 on the year. She allowed one run on four hits while striking out five and walking two.

Kelsie Monroe suffered the loss, allowing just one earned run on five hits while striking out four.
