Sacramento State 11, New Mexico State 0 (7)

LAS CRUCES, N.M. –(SAC Media Relations) Sacramento State junior first baseman Rhys Hoskins homered twice and drove in a career-high six runs while freshman starter Sam Long allowed just four hits while throwing a seven-inning shutout as the Hornets scored an 11-0 Mercy Rule win over New Mexico State on Saturday night.

Sacramento State (15-11, 5-0 WAC) won its seventh straight game to equal the 2009 team for the longest winning streak the program has had since a 16-game winning streak in 1992. The Hornets won via the Mercy Rule for the second consecutive Saturday after a 16-1 rout of Northern Colorado last Saturday at John Smith Field.

Grand Canyon 12, Chicago State 6

Phoenix, Ariz.-(GCU Media Relations) The Grand Canyon University baseball team (13-11, 4-1 WAC) secured their second Western Athletic Conference series victory with a 12-6 win over Chicago State (9-12, 0-2 WAC) today at Brazell Stadium in Phoenix, Ariz. The Antelopes collected 13 hits in the game, their ninth double-digit effort at the plate.

GCU won their first WAC series on March 14-16, taking two of three from conference preseason favorite Bakersfield on the road.

BISMARCK, N.D.-(UND Media Relations) The University of North Dakota pitching staff allowed just two earned runs combined over a Western Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday, earning a 3-1 and 3-2 sweep over visiting Northern Colorado (5-21, 0-5 WAC) at Shiloh Christian High School. UND got timely hitting, some sparkling defensive plays and solid pitching throughout to earn the wins.

"It doesn't matter how you win when you get a doubleheader sweep, it's always a good thing," UND head coach Jeff Dodson said. "We had timely hitting, we had tremendous pitching and brilliant defensive plays. We've got to get ready for tomorrow. It's a huge percentage-points swing if we can come out and take care of business."

Utah Valley 4, Bakersfield 1

OREM, Utah –(UVU Media Relations) A pair of strong pitching performances led Utah Valley University to a doubleheader sweep against Bakersfield, 4-1 and 4-2, on Saturday at Brent Brown Ballpark.

Senior Ryan Evans pitched 7.2 innings in the first game and sophomore Danny Beddes lasted 8.1 innings and, coupled with an eighth-inning rally, allowed UVU (9-18, 3-3) to win two of three in the series. Wolverine pitching allowed just six hits during the course of the twin bill with all three runs scored coming in unearned.

Seattle U 11, Texas-Pan American 6 (4 1/2 innings)
Suspended in middle of 5th, will resume play on Sunday

Fighting through rain showers, Seattle University took an 11-6 lead over Texas-Pan American after 4 1/2 innings in Western Athletic Conference baseball action before a curfew at Meridian Park Field halted the contest.

The game is scheduled to resume in the bottom of the fifth inning Sunday, March 30, at a time and place to be announced Sunday morning on GoSeattleU.com as well as through the Seattle U Athletics (@su_athletics) and Seattle U Baseball (@SU_Baseball) Twitter accounts.
