Chicago State 8, Illinois-Chicago 7

CHICAGO – (CSU Media Relations) Junior Jared Patterson (Ventura, Calif./Buena) recorded three runs, two hits and the save in Chicago State's 8-7 victory over UIC in a non-conference baseball tilt at Les Miller Field at Curtis Granderson Stadium on Wednesday (April 9) evening.

The Cougars got the offense started early with two runs in the first inning. Patterson led the game off with a walk and scored on sophomore Julian Russell (Chicago, Ill./Gordon Tech)'s double down the left line. Junior Chase Matheson (McHenry, Ill./McHenry) followed with a RBI single to give the Cougars a 2-0 lead three batters into the game.

Seattle U 5, Concordia 2

Seattle, Wash.-(SU Media Relations) Behind a strong combined pitching performance and one big offensive inning, Seattle University defeated Concordia University, 5-2, Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference collegiate baseball game at Bannerwood Park.

Skyler Genger (Kent, Wash.), scheduled to start Tuesday before that game was postponed, opened the contest with two hitless innings, pitching out of a jam in the first inning caused by two Redhawk errors that allowed Concordia leadoff hitter Blake Drake to reach third base with just one out. Genger earned two strikeouts in the second inning, but Cavalier starter Austin Hadley also breezed through the first two innings with two strikeouts.

Air Force 13, Northern Colorado 5

GREELEY –(UNC Media Relations) Jackson Field was its usual self Wednesday, carrying balls in the winds to the tune of 11 combined extra-base hits, as the Northern Colorado baseball team lost 13-5 to Air Force.

Junior left fielder Jensen Park (Kaneohe, Hawai'i) had the first of many on the day, sending a lead-off home run to left field in the bottom of the first inning.
