New Mexico State 7, Bakersfield 5
In a game that featured 25 hits, the Aggies held on to defeat Bakersfield 7-5 in the first half of a doubleheader Friday at the NM State Softball Complex.

Lacey Rother was 3-for-3 with a solo homer and two RBI. Brennalyn Nakamura also hit a home run, one of her three hits in the game. Fiana Finau, Alyssa Ruiz and Malena Padilla also had multiple hits in the game, while Tatum Reedy had a double and drove in two runs.

Amy Ricciardi drove in two runs for Bakersfield, while Sydney Raeber, Shay Fryer and Ashley Carter had one RBI each.

Karysta Donisthorpe earned the win to improve to 10-8 on the season. She gave up four runs, one earned, on five hits over five innings. Celisha Walker picked up a save, allowing one earned run on five hits with five strikeouts in two innings of work.

Lyndsay Klimenko suffered the loss to fall to 1-7 on the year. She allowed five runs on six hits and walked four in 1.2 innings of work. Starter Kelsie Monroe threw 3.1 innings, giving up two runs on seven hits. Amber Mills closed out the game, giving up two hits over one inning.

New Mexico State 8, Bakersfield 1
In the nightcap, the Aggies had 12 hits in an 8-1 victory to sweep the doubleheader. With the win, NM State improves to 25-16 on the season and 7-1 in WAC play. The 'Runners fall to 11-33-1 overall and 1-7 in the WAC with the loss.

Rother was 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI, while Finau had a double drove in two runs. Staci Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI, while Kelsey Dodd hit a solo homer. Kristi Covarrubia also had one RBI.

Makayla McAdams earned the complete-game win, improving to 9-3 on the season. She gave up one run on four hits while striking out one and walking three.

Monroe suffered the loss, allowing four runs on six hits over three innings to drop to 8-17 on the year. 


Grand Canyon 8, Utah Valley 3
Grand Canyon out-hit the Wolverines 10-5 in an 8-3 win over Utah Valley at Wolverine Field in the first game of a doubleheader Friday.

Kelsey Barak was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI, while Kayla Henry, Lauren Regester, Nicole Newbury and Camree Wartmann drove in one run each, with Newbury and Wartman also hitting doubles.

Utah Valley was led by Erin Romero's three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Stephanie Pesqueira earned the complete-game win in the circle to improve to 11-7 on the season. She allowed three runs on five hits, striking out eight and walking one.

Josi Summers took the loss, dropping to 6-13 on the year. She gave up six runs, only three of which were earned, on six hits over two innings. Kelsey Lawton threw five innings in relief, allowing one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

Grand Canyon 8, Utah Valley 3
The 'Lopes won the nightcap by the same score, defeating Utah Valley 8-3. With the win, Grand Canyon improves to 21-17 overall and 6-2 in the WAC. The Wolverines fall to 12-25 on the season and 4-4 in WAC play.

Barak was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI, while Lauren Regester also had an RBI double. Haley Walker had an RBI triple, while Kailey Regester and Claire Zampini also drove in one run each.

Debra Lovell hit a solo homer, while Brittney Vansway and Hailey Kofler drove in one run apiece.

Taylor Nowlin earned the win in the circle to even her record at 4-4 on the season. She allowed three runs on six hits while striking out three and walking one over 5.1 innings. Kiki Sepulveda picked up the save, her second of the season. She threw 1.2 hitless innings, striking out two and walking one.

Lawton suffered the loss to fall to 2-3 on the year. She gave up eight runs on 11 hits, striking out three and walking four over 6.2 innings.

Seattle U 3, Kansas City 0
The Redhawks shut out Kansas City 3-0 in the first half of a twinbill Friday at Logan Field.

Bubba Morrow was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI to lead Seattle U at the plate. Sarah Petosa and Megan Ottino also had doubles in the win.

Lindsay Davis threw a complete-game three-hitter to improve to 6-6 on the year.

Cinda Ramos suffered the loss to drop to 5-9 on the season. She allowed three runs, only one of which was earned, on nine hits.

Kansas City 3, Seattle U 1
In the nightcap, the Kangaroos broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the top of the seventh inning to defeat Seattle U 3-1 and even the series at one game apiece. With the win, Kansas City improves to 13-29 on the season and 3-5 in WAC play. The Redhawks drop to 14-28 overall and 3-5 in the WAC.

Katie Kelley drove in two of the three 'Roo runs, while Alexandra Friloux had one RBI. Aly Zembruski was 3-for-3 with a double.

Isabella Geronimo had a two-out double in the bottom of the seventh and Paige Bouska followed with a single to place runners on the corners, but the game ended on a Brianna Guerrero ground out.

Richelle Ashburn took the loss to drop to 2-8 on the year. She gave up two runs on 10 hits while striking out five over six innings. Reliver Alyssa Reuble allowed one unearned run on one hit with one strikeout and one walk in one inning of work.
