Sacramento State 10, Bakersfield 3

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. –(SAC Media Relations) Sacramento State turned a late 3-3 tie into a 10-3 blowout win with a seven-run eighth inning, defeating Bakersfield in the first of three games in the weekend WAC series. The Hornets improved to 13-3 in the WAC and 26-16 overall while dropping the Roadrunners to 16-24 and 8-8 in conference play.

The seven-run eighth inning began with a quick out before a double, a single, and a strikeout in which the batter reached on a wild pitch. The Hornets followed with five straight singles and an RBI groundout, sending 11 men to the plate in the inning to blow the game open.

Grand Canyon 6, New Mexico State 3

Phoenix, Ariz.-(GCU Media Relations)The Grand Canyon University baseball team (22-17, 11-5 WAC) withstood a New Mexico State (16-21, 7-6 WAC) ninth-inning rally to win their third straight game, this time a 6-3 victory over the Aggies at Brazell Stadium. Tonight's win pushes the Antelopes' home record to 12-3.

GCU was in control of the game after breaking a 1-1 tie with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and adding an insurance run in the seventh. However, the Aggies scored twice and had the tying run at bat in the ninth before a groundout to second base put an end to the game.

Utah Valley 8, Northern Colorado 1

Utah Valley 9, Northern Colorado 4

OREM, Utah -(UVU Media Relations) Utah Valley University won both ends of a doubleheader, 8-1 and 9-4, over Northern Colorado in a Western Athletic Conference baseball series on Friday at Brent Brown Ballpark. Rain in between the games caused a two-hour delay prior to the start of game two.

The Wolverines (18-22, 10-7) have now won four straight while the Bears fell to 6-36 overall and 1-16 in the WAC. Utah Valley homered four times, twice in each game, with Mark Krueger hitting his third of the year in the game one and fourth in game two.

North Dakota 6, Seattle U 5

GRAND FORKS, N.D.--(UND Media Relations) North Dakota played its first home game of the season at Kraft Memorial Field and treated the home faithful to a walkoff winner. Senior Taylor Petersen hit his third extra-base hit of the game, a solo opposite-field homer to rightfield, in the bottom of the ninth to lift UND to a 6-5 win Friday afternoon in Western Athletic Conference play.

Petersen's heroics were part of several key performances in North Dakota's fourth official home game of the season (first three played in Bismarck, N.D.). Andrew Thome earned his second win of the season, coming out of the bullpen and pitching the final five innings, scattering three hits with a run and five strikeouts.

Texas-Pan American 9, Chicago State 3

CHICAGO, Ill. –(UTPA Media Relations) University of Texas-Pan American senior pitcher Sam Street (10-0) moved back into a tie for the NCAA-lead in wins while pitching his NCAA-leading eighth complete game to lead the Broncs baseball team past the Chicago State University Cougars 9-3 on Friday at Cougar Stadium.

In his fourth-straight complete game, Street struck out two while allowing 11 hits and two walks. He held the hitters leading off each inning 2-or-9 while inducing 14 groundouts and throwing 93 of his 139 pitches for strikes (66.91 percent).
