Grand Canyon 6, Seattle U 1The Antelopes defeated Seattle U 6-1 in the series finale at Logan Field Saturday to claim the WAC regular-season title in their first season in the conference. With the win, Grand Canyon improves to 27-18 overall and 12-3 in the WAC. The Redhawks fall to 17-32 on the season and 6-9 in WAC play with the loss.Six different Antelopes had multiple hits in the game, led by Lauren Regester with two doubles, while Kelsey Barak and Nicole Newbury had one double each.Sarah Petosa drove in the lone Seattle U run.Stephanie Pesqueira earned the complete-game win in the circle, improving to 15-7 on the season. She allowed one run on five hits with five strikeouts and two walks.Richelle Ashburn suffered the loss, dropping to 3-10 on the season. She gave up two runs on four hits, striking out two and walking one.Kansas City 1, Bakersfield 0Aly Zembruski hit a two-out single to left field in the bottom of the seventh inning to score Abby Warkentine, giving Kansas City a 1-0 win over Bakersfield in the series finale at the Missouri 3&2 Complex Saturday. With the win, the Kangaroos win the series and improve to 18-33 overall and 7-8 in WAC play. The Roadrunners drop to 15-38-1 on the season and 4-11 in the WAC with the loss.Zembruski was 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the 'Roos. Cinda Ramos and Alexandra Friloux had the other two Kansas City hits in the game.Six different Roadrunners had hits in the loss, led by Madison Bundy and Ashley Carter with doubles.Katie Kelley earned the win in the circle to improve to 12-15 on the season. She threw a complete-game six-hitter, striking out four and walking one.Kelsie Monroe took the loss, dropping to 9-19 on the year. She gave up one run on four hits with six strikeouts and one walk.New Mexico State at Utah Valley – rained outSenior Day was cut short for Utah Valley when the its WAC season finale against New Mexico State was washed out in the top of the second inning. Conditions were deemed unplayable with the score tied 2-2 with one out in the second after a steady rainfall pounded Wolverine Field for much of the morning. The game will not be made up.
