Grand Canyon 9, New Mexico State 4

Phoenix, Ariz.-(GCU Media Relations) For the fifth time in six tries, the Grand Canyon University baseball team (23-18, 12-6 WAC) picked up a Western Athletic Conference series win, this time after a 9-4 victory over visiting New Mexico State (17-22, 8-7 WAC) in the rubber match today at Brazell Stadium.

"I'm proud of the guys, we lost a tough one yesterday but the guys came back ready to play today," said head coach Andy Stankiewicz. "We took the four runs in the first, but what was good to see was getting those runs in the sixth and seventh innings because that is something we haven't done as well. But we committed to putting the ball in play and putting bunts in the right spot. Hopefully the guys are seeing that you can win games playing that type of baseball."
