Idaho Men and Women to Face USC in NCAA Tennis Championship

DENVER – The 2014 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Tennis Team Championship fields were announced on Tuesday. The Western Athletic Conference will be represented by the Idaho men and women, who will be able to travel together as they each face the Univeristy of Southern California in Los Angeles, Calif. in the opening round.

The men (11-13) will face the Trojans in the first round on May 9. USC (26-3) fell to rival UCLA in the finals of the Pac 12 Championship, but the Trojans earned the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Championship.

Also playing their first round action in Los Angeles is Oklahoma State (21-7) and Michigan (16-12). The winners of the two first-round matches will play in the second-round on May 10.

The Idaho women (19-5) will also face USC on May 9. The Trojan women (16-7) were ranked No. 13 in the latest ITA rankings.

The winner of Idaho vs. USC match will meet the victor of Michigan (21-4) vs. Fresno State (16-8). The winners of the two first-round matches will play in the second-round on May 10. Idaho defeated Fresno State, 4-3, earlier this season.

Winners of the first and second-round sites will advance to Athlens, Ga. for the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Championships. The action will be held at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex from May 15-20.
