Sacramento State 4, Seattle U 3

SACRAMENTO, Calif. –(SAC Media Relations) Junior Rhys Hoskins continued his torrid start to WAC play going 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs and freshman Jared Paderez allowed just two hits and no earned runs over 6.2 innings to lead Sacramento State to a 4-3 win over Seattle U on Sunday.

The Hornets (20-11, 9-0 WAC) remained undefeated in conference play and ran their winning streak to 12 games, the longest active winning streak in all of NCAA Div. I and just four wins short of the program-record streak. Sacramento State beat Seattle U (11-15, 3-3 WAC) by a 4-3 score for the second consecutive day after the 15-inning contest on Saturday ended 4-3.

Utah Valley 7, Chicago State 3

CHICAGO –(UVU Media Relations) Utah Valley University notched its sixth straight win and swept a three-game WAC series, 7-3, on Sunday at Chicago State University. Devin Nelson pitched four scoreless innings to pick up his second win of the week.

Greyson Bogden broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth with a solo home run, his second of the year and his second go-ahead RBI in as many games for the Wolverines (13-18, 6-3). The series win is Utah Valley’s third straight.

New Mexico State 12, Northern Colorado 9

GREELEY, Colo. –(NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State baseball team used a four-run ninth inning to pick up a 12-9 win over Northern Colorado, Sunday, April 6 in Greely, Colo. The Aggies swept UNCO and are now 13-8 overall and 5-4 in Western Athletic Conference play. The Bears fall to 5-26 and 0-9 in WAC play.

The Aggies took a 4-0 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth but UNCO crossed the plate eight times on four hits. The Bears started the inning with two consecutive walks and a hit batter to load the bases. UNCO used a single and a wild pitch to gain momentum while taking an 8-4 lead.

Grand Canyon 3, Texas-Pan American 2

Edinburg, Texas-( GCU Media Relations) The Grand Canyon University baseball team used a couple of timely hits and scored two of their three runs with two outs to win, 3-2, over Texas-Pan American (13-21, 3-6 WAC) in the series finale today at Edinburg Baseball Stadium in Edinburg, Tex. It was the third straight one-run game between the teams in the three-game series.

The game did not come without dramatics, as the Broncs twice threatened with the bases loaded in two of the final three innings.

Starter Ethan Evanko tossed 6.0 strong innings, allowing just two runs on four hits and three walks with two strikeouts, to improve to 3-1 on the season. Evanko had stretches where he retired at least six straight Broncs batters as he did not allow a run after the third inning.

Creighton 8, North Dakota 6

OMAHA, Neb.-(UND Media Relations) Despite collecting 15 hits Sunday afternoon, North Dakota fell, 8-6 at Creighton at TD Ameritrade Park in non-conference action. UND rallied from a 4-0 deficit and a took a lead of 5-4, but the host Blue Jays scored three in the fifth to go on top for good.

"We gave ourselves a chance late, which has been a trademark of our club," UND head coach Jeff Dodson said. "We had a better offensive day, but we left several baserunners at third. We had a couple guys that swung it well for us. We just didn't pitch well in two innings and made some bad 0-2 pitches. We've got to get ready to get back to WAC play next weekend and New Mexico State."
