DENVER – Grand Canyon’s Lance Parker and Idaho’s Matt Sullivan have been named the Western Athletic Conference men’s track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for March 31-April 6.
Parker, a senior from Fort Worth, Texas (Western Texas Community College), took third in the 200-meter dash at the Texas Tech Open in Lubbock, Texas, crossing the line with a time of 21.11 seconds. The speedster also took ninth in the 100-meter sprint (10.50 seconds). Both of the times are the fastest recorded in the WAC this season.
Sullivan, a junior from Caldwell, Idaho (Caldwell HS), opened the 2014 outdoor season with an individual victory in the pole vault the Sam Adams Classic in Spokane, Wash. His vault of 5.10m leads the WAC, ranks 25th in the NCAA West Region and 42nd in the NCAA so far this season.
