Utah Valley's Michael McPherson and Jessica Lingwall Lead Multi-Events
OREM, Utah - Day one of the 2014 WAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship saw five events completed in the men's decathlon and four in the women's heptathlon at the Hal Wing Track and Field in Orem, Utah.

Utah Valley's Michael McPherson holds the lead on the men's side with 4,092 points after winning four of the five events. Michael Bollinger of Grand Canyon is second with 3,571 points, keyed by a victory in the shot put. Idaho's Drew Thompson is in third, and is followed by three other Vandals (Tyler Bennett, Ian Middleton and Colin Briggs).

Utah Valley's Jessica Lingwall leads the heptathlon with 3,030 points after winning the high jump, shot put and the 200-meters. She is followed in second and third by two teammates, Ali Shields and Mindy Stapel, respectively. Shields won the 100-meter hurdles.

The action restarts tomorrow at 10 a.m. (MT) with the men in the 110-meter hurdles and the women at 10:30 a.m. (MT) with the long jump. Both the decathlon and pentathlon will conclude in the afternoon.

The first finals of the championship will also take place, as the women's 10,000-meters will be run at 10:30 a.m. (MT), with the men's 10,000-meters following at 11:30 a.m. (MT).
