Texas-Pan American 8, Northern Colorado 1

GREELEY, Colo. –(UTPA Media Relations) Senior Sam Street recorded his 12th win, tied for the most in the NCAA, by pitching his NCAA-leading 11th complete game in a 8-1 win for the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team over the University of Northern Colorado Bears on Friday at Jackson Field.

Street (12-1), who moves back into a tie for the NCAA lead in wins with Florida Gulf Coast's Mike Murray (12-1), struck out nine while allowing just four hits and one walk.

Sacramento State 8, North Dakota 2

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -(SAC Media Relations) Sacramento State junior right handed pitcher Brennan Leitao allowed just one run on four hits over eight innings of work and got plenty of offensive support to record his 23rd career win to tie the program record and give the Hornets an 8-2 win over North Dakota on Friday.

Leitao improved to 8-3 on the season while tying his career high with nine strikeouts. His 23rd career win tied the program record set by Erik Bennett from 1987-89. Leitao is now 7-0 this season in WAC games with a 1.43 ERA and a 52-9 strikeout to walk ratio.

Seattle U 8, Bakersfield 5

BELLEVUE, Wash. –(SU Media Relations) Seattle University used another two-out rally to build a significant lead, and the Redhawks were able to hold off the Bakersfield Roadrunners for an 8-5 victory Friday night in Western Athletic Conference collegiate baseball action at Bannerwood Park.

After Bakersfield starter James Barragan retired the first five Redhawk batters in order, Grant Newton (Bend, Ore.) broke through with a single deep into the hole at shortstop, and Colin Peterson (Bellingham, Wash.) followed with a single to right field. Cash McGuire (Kent, Wash.) drove in Newton with a single, and Griffin Andreychuk’s (Nanaimo, B.C.) single scored Peterson.

Chicago State 8, New Mexico State 5

LAS CRUCES, N.M. –(NMSU Media Relations) Every Cougar in the lineup earned a hit on Friday (May 16) evening as Chicago State defeated New Mexico State 8-5 at Presley Askew Field to clinch the Western Athletic Conference baseball series.

"We've played a lot of good baseball the last two games," Chicago State head coach Steve Joslyn said. "Games at the end of the year can go a lot of different ways but the guys stepped up to finish the year strong."

Grand Canyon 5, Utah Valley 2

Phoenix-(GCU Media Relations) The Grand Canyon University baseball team (29-20, 18-7 WAC) opened their final home series of the 2014 season with a 5-2 win over visiting Utah Valley (24-27, 15-10 WAC) tonight at Brazell Stadium. The win keeps them within one game of Western Athletic Conference leader Sacramento State and a chance to share the regular season conference crown.

The Antelopes also improved to 14-4 on their home field while picking up their fourth straight victory.
