SACRAMENTO, Calif. -(SAC Media Relations) Junior right-hander Brennan Leitao allowed just three hits over eight shutout innings and the Hornets capitalized on three Chicago State errors to score four unearned runs in a 6-0 win on Friday at John Smith Field.
With the win Sacramento State (29-18, 15-4 WAC) moved within one victory of its third-consecutive 30-win season, a feat the program has not accomplished since a string of nine straight 30-win seasons from 1985-1993. Chicago State (14-29, 3-13 WAC), which entered the contest third in the WAC in hitting, was shut out for just the third time this season.

Grand Canyon 12, Seattle U 2 (8)
SEATTLE-(GCU Media Relations) In a tale of two games, the Grand Canyon University baseball team (24-19, 13-7 WAC) split their doubleheader at Seattle U (22-20, 10-7 WAC) today at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue, Wash. The Antelopes collected 12 hits in the 12-2 opening game win, but tallied just five in the second game as they dropped a 2-1 decision.
In the day's first game, the Lopes combined for their 17th double-digit hit and seventh double-digit run game, but they fell in their 12th one-run game (4-8) of the season in the day's second contest.

Seattle U 2, Grand Canyon 1
SEATTLE-(SU Media Relations) After losing the first game of Friday’s doubleheader, Seattle University settled down in the second game and received some timely hitting in the eighth inning to win the nightcap and split the Western Athletic Conference twinbill with Grand Canyon University at Bannerwood Park.
Brian Olson (Black Diamond, Wash.) hit a solo home run to lead off the second inning of the second game, the only run to score until the eighth inning. On the mound, Skyler Genger (Kent, Wash.) allowed just four hits through the first seven innings as he kept Grand Canyon off the scoreboard.

Utah Valley 8, New Mexico State 1
LAS CRUCES, N.M. –(UVU Media Relations) Utah Valley University right-hander Danny Beddes went the distance, striking out 10 without allowing a walk in an 8-1 win over New Mexico State on Friday night. UVU scored all eight of its runs over the last three innings to win in the opening game of the Western Athletic Conference series.
It was a career-high strikeout total for the sophomore Beddes, who has now pitched two complete games in his last three starts. He allowed seven scattered hits to move to 4-3 on the year, with the only run against him scoring in the first.

Texas-Pan American 3, North Dakota 1
EDINBURG – (UTPA Media Relations) Senior Sam Street pitched his NCAA-leading ninth complete game to stayed tied for the top spot in the NCAA with an 11-0 record and lead the University of Texas-Pan American Broncs baseball team past the University of North Dakota 3-1 on Friday at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
In his fifth-straight complete game, Street struck out eight while scattering six hits and three walks. He threw 87 of his 136 pitches (64 percent) for strikes. Street and Florida Gulf Coast's Mike Murray are the only two pitchers in the NCAA with records of 11-0.

Bakersfield 7, Northern Colorado 3
GREELEY, Colo.-(CSUB Media Relations) Garrett Pierce (Jr., Bakersfield, Calif., Centennial HS) went 3-for-4 with two RBI's and two runs scored as Bakersfield defeated Northern Colorado 7-3 in the WAC series opener Friday afternoon.
Roadrunner pitcher Taylor Aikenhead (Sr., Lancaster, Calif., Bakersfield College) posted his third complete game of the season as he won his team leading sixth game. The Bears led 1-0 after two before CSUB tied it on a Max Carter (Fr., Bakersfield, Calif., Stockdale HS) RBI single in the third.
