Game 2: #1 Cal Poly 4, #4 Sacramento State 2
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. –(Sac St. Media Relations) After falling behind 4-0 early Hornet starter Sam Long and reliever Alex Palsha kept their team close and the Hornet offense got a pair of runs in the eighth inning but No. 5 Cal Poly held on for a 4-2 win on the first day of the San Luis Obispo NCAA Regional.
Sacramento State (39-23), which was playing its first Div. I NCAA Tournament game in program history, will face No. 18 Arizona State (33-23) in an elimination game on Saturday at 1 p.m. Cal Poly will play Pepperdine (40-16) in the winners bracket on Saturday after the Waves beat Arizona State 3-2 on Friday afternoon.

Game 3: #4 Sacramento State 5, #2 Arizona State 4
SAN LUIS OBIPSO, Calif. – (Sac St Media Relations) Sacramento State used two big innings offensively and junior Brennan Leitao allowed just one earned run over seven innings as the Hornets withstood a ninth-inning rally to claim a 5-4 win over No. 18 Arizona State in an elimination game in the NCAA Regional.
"Win No. 40 in a regional and knocking off a perennial power in Arizona State ... we've believed all year long that we're a good club and we can play against anybody. Now other people are going to believe." head coach Reggie Christiansen said. "We were able to score two runs then gave it back. That was a critical point, but our guys continued to stay upbeat and positive in the dugout and then we score three when the shortstop makes an error."

Game 5: #1 Cal Poly 6, #4 Sacramento State 5
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. –(Sac St. Media Relations) No. 5 Cal Poly led 5-1 early but Sacramento State battled back and had the potential tying run on base in the ninth inning before the Mustangs were able to escape with a 6-5 win in an elimination game at the NCAA Regional in San Luis Obispo.
The loss ended the season for Sacramento State (40-24), which won its most games since the 1991 season and earned the program's first WAC title while playing in its first NCAA Div. I Regional. The Hornets also had their first Div. I Tournament win on Saturday, eliminating No. 18 Arizona State. Pepperdine (42-16) defeated Cal Poly (47-12) 10-6 later on Sunday to win the region.
