DENVER – Texas-Pan American’s Martin Casse and Seattle U’s Dylan Burnett have been named the Western Athletic Conference men’s track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for April 28-May 4.
Casse, a senior from Toulouse, France (Lycee-Toulouse Lautrec), set a new program record in the 1,500-meter run at the Payton Jordan Invitational with a time of 3:43.67, while finishing seventh in the third section. Casse broke his own record of 3:44.76, that he set last season, and now holds the top three spots in program history in the 1,500m. His time is ranked 37th in the country, 26th in the NCAA West Region and first in the WAC.
Burnett, a senior from Lynnwood, Wash. (Lynnwood HS), posted a season-best mark in the javelin throw for the fourth time in as many meets, finishing second in the event at the OSU High Performance Meet. His mark of 67.16 meters (220’ 4”) remains the top mark in the WAC this season and puts him 13th on the NCAA West Performance List and 39th in the NCAA.
