UMKC Headlines WBCA Academic Top 25, Utah Valley 10th 7/24/2014 12:00:00 AM ATLANTA, Ga. – With a 3.628 team grade-point average, Missouri-Kansas City is the top Division I honoree on the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll for the 2013-14 season, the WBCA announced today. Utah Valley ranked 10th on the list with a 3.543 team GPA.UMKC returns to the Academic Top 25 Honor Roll for the second time in program history and for the first time since 1998. Utah Valley is in the top 10 for the fifth straight season, having held the top spot last year. The WBCA Academic Top 25 annually recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and junior/community college women’s basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPA inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2013-14 season is the 19th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.A team’s GPA is calculated by dividing the total number of quality points earned by the total number of hours attempted by all team members in the academic terms (semesters or quarters) that the season spans. Weighted grades are converted to a 4.0 scale. The GPA’s are rounded to the nearest thousandth of a point. Teams are nominated for the honor by a WBCA-member head coach.
