Lawrence – A goal in the 82nd minute spoiled an otherwise stellar performance by Nina Tzianos, as No. 20 Kansas narrowly escaped with a 1-0 victory over the Kangaroos on Sunday afternoon in Lawrence, Kan.
The Jayhawks unleashed 27 shots, putting a dozen attempts on net, but Tzianos made 11 saves to frustrate the hosts and keep UMKC in the game.

Flagstaff – The Grand Canyon University women's soccer team (0-5-1) concluded the NAU Mountain Classic with a 2-0 loss to tournament host Northern Arizona (3-3-1) Sunday at Lumberjack Stadium in Flagstaff, Ariz. The Antelopes will return to Phoenix for a five-game home stand beginning next Friday.
"Again, the girls played quite well but had a lapse in concentration and the other team capitalized on it," said head coach Stevie Gill. "We are in every game and that really is the frustrating part. In order to win, we need to be focused for the full 90 minutes and need players to step up and start scoring goals. Period."

OREM - Freshman forward Tori Smith made her first collegiate goal a game winner as Utah Valley picked up its fourth straight shutout in a 1-0 overtime victory over UNLV Sunday at Clyde Field.
With the win, Utah Valley keeps its unbeaten streak alive at six games and improves its record to 5-2-1. UNLV drops just its second match of the season, falling to 3-2-1 on the season.

SEATTLE - University women’s soccer (4-2-0) and St. Mary’s (4-4-0) remained scoreless at half but a pair of early second half goals for the Redhawks ensured a 2-0 shutout vs. the Gaels.
“I was really happy with how the team responded after our halftime break,” said head coach Julie Woodward. “St. Mary’s is a very solid team and it was fun to see us create opportunities and score two very nice goals. I really thought Celia Vaughn had an excellent game today from beginning to end and Sunshine Soriano helped change the game with her pressure and intensity. It was nice to get a shutout and a really great team win on the road.”

SANTA BARBARA — UC Santa Barbara defeated Bakersfield 2-0 in women’s soccer play Sunday night at Harder Stadium.
Angelisa Cortez (in the 19th minute) and Miranda Cornejo (in the 65th minute) recorded the Gauchos’ goals. UC Santa Barbara (3-3-2) outshot the Roadrunners 21-2. Tori Ornela (R-Jr., Lemoore, Calif., Lemoore HS) made seven saves for the ‘Runners. CSUB as a team tallied nine saves.
