CHICAGO – (GCU Media Relations) Grand Canyon finished off a perfect weekend with a pair of 3-0 sweeps to win the Chicago State Tournament Saturday. The Antelopes (11-3) opened the morning by defeating San Jose State (2-10) by set scores of 25-20, 25-18, 25-12 and followed up by downing South Dakota State in the afternoon 25-22, 25-16, 25-16.
Megan Byrnes, who finished the tournament with 40 kills, a .468 attack percentage, 15 total blocks and was selected to the all-tournament team, had a career-high 13 kills and hit .691 in the win over San Jose State. Mackenzie Phelps had a match-best 17 digs.
Against South Dakota State, freshman middle Gracie Dimond, getting her first action this weekend and first starts on Saturday, had nine blocks, including one solo. Byrnes led in kills with 11.
New Mexico State 3, Brown 0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-18)

DURHAM, N.H. – (NMSU Media Relations) For the second-consecutive day the New Mexico State volleyball team swept its opponent during the Holly Young Invitational, defeating Brown Saturday morning in straight sets 25-16, 25-19, 25-18.
Junior setter Taylor Livoti marked her third double-double of the season after a 15-assist, 15-dig performance. Middle hitter Sasha-Lee Thomas led the way for NM State with nine kills and also added four block assists.
New Mexico State 3, at New Hampshire 0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-12)

DURHAM, N.H. – (NMSU Media Relations) The New Mexico State volleyball team capped off the Holly Young Invitational by sweeping host New Hampshire, 25-18, 26-24, 25-11 on Saturday night for their second win of the day. Gwen Murphy was named MVP of the tournament while Hannah Walker and Sasha-Lee Thomas were named to the all-tournament team.
Junior setter Taylor Livoti collected her second double-double of the day, and team-leading fourth overall, after posting 28 assists and 10 digs versus New Hampshire.
Murphy led the team with 11 kills, junior Nathalie Castellanos added 14 assists and Walker once again led in the dig department, this time with 20 total digs. Junior Andrea Tauai matched Livoti with 10 digs of her own.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – (UMKC Media Relations) The Missouri-Kansas City volleyball team (11-3) improved its win streak to seven matches, the second best streak in school history, with a pair of wins on Saturday to claim the tournament title at the FGCU Hilton Garden Inn/Homewood Suites Classic.
The ‘Roos opened the day with a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over host FGCU (5-6), before closing out the event with a 3-0 win over Alabama State (4-11) at Alico Arena in Fort Myers, Fla. With the two wins, the Kangaroos now trail the nine straight wins by the 1992 squad for the most in school history.
Against FGCU, Skyler Muff hit .393 and Emma Hagedorn hit .375, as each finished with 14 kills, while Taryn Miller recorded 31 digs and Nicole Wemhoff notched a double-double with 23 assists and 11 digs.
Against Alabama State, Sydney Crimmins led the ‘Roos with 10 kills, while Hendin topped the team with three of the seven aces. Miller, meanwhile, had a team-high 19 digs.

OREM, Utah – (UVU Media Relations) Utah Valley University managed to overcome a 2-1 deficit as it came from behind to defeat UC Riverside in five sets on Saturday afternoon in the La Quinta Inn & Suites Invitational (25-14, 24-26, 17-25, 25-18, 15-13).
Four players finished in double digits in kills for the Wolverines (4-9) and freshman Madison Wolford and junior Lauren Bakker led the way with 13 and 12 respective kills. The pair of middle blockers also both hit over .500 in the match as Bakker put up a .706 attack percentage while Wolford hit an even .500. Sophomores Nakisha Willden and Macky Treanor also recorded 11 and 10 respective kills.
Utah Valley 3, Portland 2 (25-18, 11-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-13)

OREM, Utah – (UVU Media Relations) Senior Kalani Norris put up a pair of crucial kills and a solo block late in the final set while junior Lauren Bakker sealed the match for Utah Valley University with a kill of her own as the Wolverines came from behind to defeat the University of Portland in five sets in the finale of the La Quinta Inn & Suites Invitational on Saturday night (25-18, 11-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-13). The victory marked UVU’s second five-set win of the day and helped the Wolverines take second at the Invitational with a 2-1 record.
Bakker, who was named to the all-tournament team following the match along with freshman Madison Wolford, led UVU with 14 kills. She also posted a .435 hitting percentage and added five blocks. Sophomore Macky Treanor too notched a team-high 14 kills while Norris and sophomore Kiahna Steiner each added 11 kills of their own.

CHICAGO – (CSU Media Relations) Chicago State volleyball earned a split in its final two matches to close out the Chicago State Tournament today at the Jacoby Dickens Center.
The Cougars went the distance in both contests as they opened the day with a 3-2 (18-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 15-9) win over UMass Lowell before falling in the tournament's final match to South Dakota State in five sets (25-20, 25-17, 23-25, 17-25, 14-16).
Juniors Essence Jackson-Jones and Chelsea Sheldon-Medina each tallied a match-high 13 kills and five blocks for the Cougars, while freshman Sarah Metcalfe produced 30 assists and a match-best four service aces.
Jackson-Jones recorded match highs of 14 kills and seven blocks (one solo, six assisted) in addition to posting a .379 hitting percentage to lead CSU in the South Dakota State match.
Junior Elli Woinowsky recorded a double-double of 13 kills and 11 digs, senior Julia Menhart tallied 24 digs, and Metcalfe dished out a match-best 33 assists for the Green and White.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – (UTPA Media Relations) The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs volleyball team fell to the host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders 3-0 (21-25, 18-25, 9-25) on Saturday at the Islanders Classic at Dugan Wellness Center.
Junior Haley Durham led the Broncs (2-10) with 11 kills on .450 hitting and a team-high four blocks. Freshman Mary Kate Clark dished out a team-high 25 assists to go with seven digs.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – (UTPA Media Relations) The University of Texas-Pan American Broncs volleyball team finished up its fourth and final non-conference tournament, the Islanders Classic, with a 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 13-25, 21-25) loss to the University of Nebraska at Omaha Mavericks on Saturday at the Islanders Classic at Dugan Wellness Center.
Freshman Kyra Hill led the Broncs (2-10) with a career-high 13 kills to go with three digs and two blocks. Redshirt senior Maria Kliefoth finished with 12 kills and four blocks. Junior Haley Durham led the Broncs with six blocks.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – (CSUB Media Relations) Danika Youngblood recorded 40 kills in a pair of matches on Saturday as Bakersfield finished third in the Roadrunner Classic.
Oregon State defeated the ‘Runners 3-1 in Saturday’s opening match. The Roadrunners earned a 25-22 victory in the opening set before the Beavers tied the match with a 25-13 second set triumph. The Beavers earned back-to-back 25-23 wins in sets three and four to earn the match victory.
Youngblood reset her career high for kills with 22 and posted her third consecutive double-double with 10 digs. Kelsee Sawyer had 18 kills, while Luiza Martins posted 46 assists, nine digs, and three kills.
In the tournament finale, Bakersfield swept Fresno State (25-16, 25-20, 25-20) to take third place. Youngblood hit .368 and again had a double-double of 18 kills and 10 digs. Molly O'Hagan and Sawyer each charted 11 kills. Mariah Alvidrez posted 19 digs while Martins dished out 43 assists.
