LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The reigning WAC champion Aggies opened up WAC play with a sweep (25-20, 25-10, 25-17) of Grand Canyon. With the win, New Mexico State improves to 7-5 overall and 1-0 in WAC play. The Antelopes drop to 11-4 on the season and 1-1 in the WAC.
New Mexico State hit .240 and held Grand Canyon to -.082 hitting on the match. The Aggies had 41 kills to the 'Lopes' 19.
Gwen Murphy led NM State with nine kills on .533 hitting, while Taylor Livoti finished with 20 assists and eight digs.
Shannon Dugan paced GCU with eight kills, while Mackenzie Phelps finished with a match-high 14 digs.

EDINBURG, Texas – Molly O'Hagan hit. 423 to lead Bakersfield to a 3-1 victory over Texas-Pan American in the Western Athletic Conference opener for both schools Thursday night.
O’Hagan posted 14 kills against three hitting errors in 26 attempts. The 5-11 middle added three blocks and two digs. Danika Youngblood led all players with 17 kills. Youngblood nearly turned in her fourth consecutive double-double as she ended the night with nine digs. Youngblood hit .306 for the match (17-6-36).
Roadrunner setter Luiza Martins turned in her fifth double-double of the season as she posted 44 assists and a season-high 15 digs. CSUB’s libero Mariah Alvidrez led all players with 23 digs. Bakersfield held the Broncs (2-12, 0-1) to a .188 hitting average.
Haley Durham led the Broncs with 15 kills and four blocks. Alisha Watson added 14 kills with eight digs and a match-high five aces. Anjane Janda chipped in 12 kills while Nausheen Merchant paced the defense with 15 digs.
