WAC 2014-15 Championships Schedule Announced

DENVER – The Western Athletic Conference announced its complete 2014-15 championship schedule for its 19 men's and women's sports.

The championship season gets underway with men's and women's cross country to be hosted by Texas-Pan American on Nov. 1.  It will be the first WAC championship that Texas-Pan American hosts since becoming a member of the conference in 2013.  Seattle U will host both the women's soccer tournament (Nov. 6-7, 9) and the men's soccer tournament (Nov. 13-14, 16) at Championship Field.  The fall season ends with Bakersfield hosting the volleyball tournament, Nov. 20-22.

The winter season begins with the men’s and women’s swimming & diving championships, Feb. 25-28.  For the 18th season, the meet will be held at the Aquatic Center at Palo Alto College in San Antonio, Texas.  The men’s and women’s indoor track & field championships begin a day later (Feb. 26-28) and will be contested at the Cadet Field House at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.  The men’s and women’s basketball tournaments will be held for the fifth straight season at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., March 11-14.

The spring sports open with a new format in golf this season.  Both the men and women will compete at the same time on two separate courses at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz.  The tournaments will be held, April 20-22.  Missouri-Kansas City is set to host the men's and women's tennis tournaments April 24-26 at the Plaza Tennis Center.  The softball tournament returns to Las Cruces and New Mexico State, May 7-9.  For the second straight year, Utah Valley will host the men's and women's outdoor track & field championships, May 13-16, at the Hal Wing Track and Field complex.  The 2014-15 season caps off with the baseball tournament in Mesa, Ariz. at the newly renovated Hohokam Stadium, home of the Oakland A's spring training facility.
