DENVER — Grand Canyon’s Iegor Lytvenok and Michael Bidak have been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for January 5-11.
Lytvenok, a junior from Kryviy Rig., Ukraine (MP Dragomanov National Pedagogic University) led the Lopes to a double victory over North Dakota at home this weekend. Lytvenok took home four individual wins including the 200 breast (2:02.70), 200 fly (1:50.75), 200 free (1:37.66) and the 100 back (52.11). His time in the 200 freestyle was a season best from last weekend and also qualifies as a NCAA “B” Cut. Lytnevok also helped the Lopes to two first place finishes in the 200 free and 400 free relay and a second place finish in the 400 medley.
Bidak, a junior from Scottsdale, Ariz. (Horizon HS) dominated the board with two first place finishes this weekend, helping the Lopes to wins over North Dakota. On the first day Bidak led the 1-meter with a score of 292.50 and took fourth on the 3-meter (252.30). In the second dual against North Dakota Bidak won the 3-meter (262.50) and took second on the 1-meter with a score of 258.80. Bidak’s performances helped Grand Canyon beat North Dakota in both dual meets.
