DENVER – Utah Valley’s Jason Lynch and Texas-Pan American’s Trey Taylor have been named the Western Athletic Conference men’s track and field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for January 12-18.
Lynch, a junior from Sandy, Utah (Hillcrest HS), is a returning standout Wolverine, and was named second team All-WAC in the indoor 2014 season in the 5000m. Lynch finished in first place in the 3000m collegiate section at the Snake River Open with a time of 8:45.55. His TFRRS adjusted time for elevation came down to 8:34.33 which ranks first in the WAC this season.
Taylor, a senior from Bloomfield, Conn. (North Iowa Area Community College), won the weight throw after hitting a mark of 17.06 meters, which ranks fourth in program history. He beat 19 other throwers to earn the top spot in the weight throw and was the only thrower to surpass 17 meters. Taylor also posted a seventh place finish in the shot put with a throw of 14.56 meters.
