DENVER — Idaho’s Rachel Millet and Northern Colorado’s Savana Meadows have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for January 12-18.
Millet, a senior from Spokane, Wash. (Ferris HS) led the Vandals to a win against New Mexico State at home this weekend. Millet dominated her competition every time she hit the water, taking home individual and relay wins in every event she swam. She took first in the 200 free (1:52.10), 100 free (51.97) and the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.58, almost five seconds faster than the second place finisher. Millet also helped her team with a win in the 200 medley relay against the Lobos.
Meadows, a sophomore from Burnet, Texas (Burnet HS) swept the diving boards again this weekend against Air Force and Seattle U. Meadows continued her diving dominance taking first in the 3-meter and 1-meter competition. In the 3-meter, Meadows dove a solid 275.93 beating the second place finisher by 32.55 points. She continued her board skills in the 1-meter diving a 249.90. On the second day of diving, Meadows recorded a personal best score on the platform (210.53) by almost six points.
