DENVER — Wyoming’s Adam Kalms and Austin Rettinghouse have been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for January 12-18.
Kalms, a senior from Marmong Point, Australia (St. Francis Xavier’s HS) led the Pokes to a win against Denver University on Saturday in his final meet in Laramie. Kalms won the 100 freestyle with a time of 44.93. He also added a win in the 200 free at 1:38.96. Kalms won both relays for the Cowboys helping his team to a win in the 200 medley (1:30.80) and 400 free relay (3:04.66) defeating the border rivals 176-124.
Rettinghouse, a freshman from Worland, Wyo. (Worland HS) dominated the 3-meter board in his first event as a Cowboy. He represented very well winning the 3-meter with a score of 306.77 against Denver and finishing third on the 1-meter board (271.35) helping his team defeat the Pioneers this weekend.
