DENVER — Idaho’s Rachel Millet and Bakersfield’s Carlee Burks have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for January 19-25.

Millet, a senior from Spokane, Wash. (Ferris HS) led the Vandals to a win against conference rival Grand Canyon on Saturday.  Similar to her outstanding performances last weekend, Millet dominated each of her events leading Idaho with three individual wins and one relay victory.  Swimming the same events that she did the previous week in their win against the Lobos, Millet won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.21.  She improved her times from last week in the 100 free (51.22) and the 200 IM (2:04.95) winning both events against Grand Canyon’s top swimmers.  Millet also helped her team with a win in the 200 medley relay against the Lopes.

Burks, a sophomore from Bakersfield, Calif. (Centennial HS) led the ‘Runner women to another 1-2-3 sweep over UC Santa Cruz, picking up wins on both boards.  She raised her personal best (which is the fifth all-time score for Bakersfield) by 0.4 to 266.32 points in the 1-meter.  Later, she increased her 3-meter score (which is the third all-time score for Bakersfield) by three points to 294.75.  That score is also the third-best in the WAC this year while her 1-meter score is the seventh-best in the WAC.

Other swimmers nominated: Brenna Boese, Northern Colorado; Jovanna Koens, Grand Canyon; Erin Grabanski; North Dakota.

Other divers nominated: Rachel Adams, Grand Canyon; Nikki Imanaka, Idaho.
