Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week Announced

DENVER — Bakersfield’s Michaela Paige and New Mexico State’s Lauren Reifel have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for December 29 - January 4.

Paige, a junior from Lompoc, Calif. (Cabrillo HS) led the ‘Runners with a win in the 200 freestyle against the San Jose State Spartans this weekend.  The junior recorded a season-best time of 1:51.45 in the event before finishing second in the 500 free with a time of 5:06.92.  Not only did Paige drop her best 200 free time this season by almost three seconds, she managed to jump from just outside the Top 20 in the Western Athletic Conference to record the third best WAC time this season.  Her mid-season 500 free time also ranks in the WAC Top 20 times.

Reifel, a junior from Fortville, Ind. (Mt. Vernon HS) earned runner up honors in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives Friday afternoon against Pac-12 No. 14 Arizona in a frigid dual meet.  Reifel scored a 267.00 on the 1-meter board and a 253.35 on the 3-meter dive to lead New Mexico State.

Other swimmers nominated: Roni Houck, Northern Arizona; Dorottya Lennert, New Mexico State; Hannah Kastigar, Grand Canyon.

Other divers nominated: Chelsea Jackson, Northern Arizona; Rachel Adams, Grand Canyon.
