DENVER — Grand Canyon’s Illya Glazunov and Michael Bidak have been named the Western Athletic Conference Men’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for December 29 - January 4.
Glazunov, a junior from Donetsk, Ukraine (Dragomanov National Pedagogic University) set two new pool records and took two individual victories in Grand Canyon’s win over UC San Diego and Incarnate Word. Glazunov swam the 50 free with a time of 20.17 and 100 free at 44.91 seconds. He also helped the Lopes with a win in the 400 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay which also set a new pool record with a time of 1:22.23.
Bidak, a junior from Scottsdale, Ariz. (Horizon HS) dominated the board with two first place finishes helping the Lopes to a win over UC San Diego and Incarnate Word this weekend. Bidak was victorious on the 3 meter board with a score of 275.55 and took first on the 1-meter with a score of 323.90 which ranks second in the WAC this season.
