WAC Runners of the Week
UT Rio Grande Valley's Jose Juan Wells and Utah Valley's Savannah Berry have been named Western Athletic Conference Runners of the Week, respectively, for Oct. 5-11.

Wells, a senior from Cottonwood, Ariz. ran his best race of the season as he finished in third place out of 45 Division I runners at the UIW Invitational. He finished with a time of 24:39.3 in the men's 8K race. Wells finished five seconds ahead of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Edgar Martinez, who finished in fourth.

Berry, a sophomore from Bakersfield, Calif. led the women with a third place finish in the Color Country Invitational in Cedar City, Utah. She ran the 4k with a time of 14:48.3 to help the wolverines to a first place team finish.

Grand Canyon
Grand Canyon's women's squad earned a third place finish, while the men placed fifth in Mesa Community College's Thunderbird Classic. The Lopes have been competing in the meet as far back as 2009. The women's team was led by junior Natalie Cardwell's sixth place finish (19:28.7), marking her personal best on the course. She was followed closely behind by sophomore Kelli Stroupe's eighth place (19:39.4). The men's team was led by freshman Jonny Holsten whose time of 25:22.93 on the 8k course earned him 12th. Sophomore Garrett Mulkey placed 14th (27:47.9).

Missouri-Kansas City
The UMKC cross country team had the weekend off and are now in full preparation mode for the Pre-National Invite hosted by Louisville on Saturday, October 17. The last meet the ‘Roos competed in was the Rim Rock Classic hosted by the University of Kansas on October 3, where Brooke Guiot set a personal record in the 6K women's race with a time of 23:58 to lead the ‘Roos.

NM State
NM State men are ranked 15th in the USTFCCCA Mountain Region poll. The Aggies have this weekend off before running again at the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on Oct. 17 in Sunnyvale, Calif.

Seattle U
The men's and women's teams will continue to stay in Seattle, training for their next meet - the Emerald City Open at Lower Woodland Park in Seattle, Wash. on Oct. 17. This is the only home meet for Seattle University this season, and will serve as a Pink Meet in support of breast cancer awareness.

UTRGV
The Vaqueros competed at the UIW Invitational this past weekend where the men's team finished in fifth place and the women's team finished in third place. The women's team finished just two points behind Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, who finished in second. The Vaqueros combined for three top-five finishes as Jennifer Zapata finished in second place with a career-best time of 22:07.8 and Teresa Sova finished right behind Zapata in third place with a time of 22:19.3. Jose Juan Wells also added a third place finish to lead the men's team after finishing with a time of 24:39.3 as he ran his best race of the season.

Utah Valley
The Utah Valley University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Color Country Invitational on Oct. 10, placing 2nd and 1st, respectively. Logan Petty led the men across the finish line with a first place finish, while Savannah Berry led the women with a third place finish. Utah Valley will next travel to Santa Clara for the Bronco Invitational (women) and to Louisville for the Pre-National meet (men).

WAC CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2015 WAC Cross Country Championship travels to Orem, Utah. This year's championships will be hosted by Utah Valley. The Utah Valley men will look to win a third-consecutive WAC title. Seattle U claimed the women's title last season and will be looking to repeat.
